it is obvious that everyone on this board loves there mc and beleives it is better than any other inboard manufacturer. im curious to hear what people on this site have to say about what their own reasons are for buying an mc , which model and what makes it better. for me it was wake characteristics and styling.

I bought a mastercraft because: With my budget, I decided that I was in the 80's year range. As far as 80's boats go, there was no question, MasterCraft was the most skiiable boat, and the highest quality. It was either a 20 year old MC or a 4 year old Moomba, I picked the better one :uglyhamme

When I bought my boat, my choice was formed by a couple of factors. I could buy a new momba for just a little more than I spent on the mastercraft, but after carefull concideration, I decided I wanted one of the 'Big 3" MC, CC or Malibu, because of their quality and eventual resale value. I looked at all 3, and the particular used boat that I found was the best in my price range was a MC. If I were to buy a brand new boat, and money was not a concern, I think that it would be a tough call between MC and CC, they both make fantastic boats. I was at the Nor Cal boat show yesterday, and in this years models, MC has it all over CC in style, (even my brother who is a devoute CC guy said so) but obviously the most important thing is how does the boat perform to your particular needs.

I had a budget of <$15K. I looked at "big 3" used boats and the new Moombas. My search was quickly refined to used MC and CC boats, based on quality of the boat, slalom/barefoot wake, and HP of boats in this price range and a year range of 1990-1995. I ruled out Malibu because they didn't seem to hold their value as well for the years I was looking at and there didn't seem to be many Malibu boats out there with the HO engine. I chose the MC over CC because of the 92-94 hull/wake reputation and styling. The only consideration, in hindsight, is I would've paid more attention to possibly getting into something with EFI.
At 125-150hours/year, I'm thinking I can get another 5 years from this one and then shop for another 8-10year old MC.

We do a lot of trick skiing, Around the Boats, hot pickups, etc. My buddy has a '96 190 that handles it without breaking a sweat. So when I started looking at boats, I had a $15k - $20k price range. CC in that range drives like a truck. Malibus are OK & the Sunsetter was on my list, but there just weren't many of them. I test drove a TrStar but didn't like it at all. The 205 drives like a Vette, has pretty good room, weights up to a good medium sized wake, good ratings all the way around, plenty of parts, lots of dealers, etc. etc. The list goes on. This boat gets pushed harder than most people would ever drive their own boat & takes it easily.

I have owned a couple sammy's and an x-star. this last bought was a 190. For me it was the service that my local dealer here in michigan gives me. Action water sports is nothing but first class and the boys really take care of me. And the product speaks for its self. Steak does cost more than hamburger.

This one does anyway! :D
My husband learned to ski behind a MC and wasn't terribly interested in looking at anything that wasn't MC or maybe CC when we went looking at boats. There's no CC dealer in Vegas (or wasn't, anyway, maybe there is now), so that was easy. We bought a 1997 ProStar 205, knowing it wasn't perfectly suited to our lake conditions or what we wanted to do, but it was our first boat & it seemed better to start there. That was a great, great boat with almost no maintenance or other issues, but we needed more room and a bigger boat in general (Lake Mead gets blown out pretty bad most summer days). Because of the good experience with the 205, becuase we've had a great dealer that's taken good care of us and because the X-30 is very well suited for how we use the boat, we never seriously looked at anything but MC when it came time to buy.

I have been skiing most of my life with all sorts of nice boats. The usability of the mastercraft based on our purpose in finding the perfect ski run, wakeboard, etc speeks volumns. Just drive it, ski it, you will understand.. Its the small things. Its the big things--everything is done with us in mind..
