Might be talking about a short dowel near the top of the pylon that is about 1/2" thick. Had one on my Parents boat growing up '86 Ski Supreme. I was always thinking of ways to get that off too cuz we couldn't get a fly high pole to slip over because of it. although i could be wrong but that's what came to my mind.

I am pretty sure that this is what he is talking about. From what I remember, Flite-Pipe made a claim on extended pylon for these boats.

It will eventually come out- Very tight interference fit. I had to use a 3lb hammer to pound mine out- just go slow and careful. Good luck!

Yeah that looks about right. So just lots of pounding with a BIG hammer?

I was able to remove this dowel on my '83 with just a couple of moderate taps with a hammer. It appears the dowel may have a taper on it so it might come out more easily in one direction vs the other.

Yep, once it finally started to go it never really let up- I had to use a large punch to get it all the way out once it was flush with the pylon- Also know that doing this will slightly flatten the end of the bar where ya hit it. Keep at it and it will come out.

And the pole is out! Guess the WD40 had to sit in there over night. Came out this morning

Had that happen to a couple of our dogs, we just put the hose to them, never thought about using WD-40. 8p 8p

I just trimmed mine off a little bit so that I could get the air boom over it. and so that it would still be there if I need to pull a tube.
