View Full Version : carb troubles

So I go to put my boat in the water on Saturday and it wouldn't start. I opened the motor cover and took off the spark arrestor and noticed that the carb was dripping gas into the primary bowl on one side. A buddy told me that I probably need a rebuild, and here is where I get confused. I got the numbers off the carb, and found 7072. Is the rebuild kit the same as teh 4160? Did I get the right number? Skidim shows where to get the numbers and that isn't where I got mine.
NAPA pulled the rebuild kit for the 7072, but it was backordered. Is this the same carb as the 4160, or is the rebuild kit different. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys and gals

Could it be that I put on EI this winter and didn't change the springs? Do I need the adjust the timing?

What year/model boat and engine are we talking about?
If the engine won't start I probably wouldn't do a carb rebuild as an initial step in troubleshooting this problem. Has the engine been run this season? Any mods or repairs been done to it lately?
