Hydrofoiling Becomes Newest Sport Discipline
USA Water Ski has announced that the United States Hydrofoil Association (USHA) has become the ninth sport discipline of USA Water Ski. The USA Water Ski board of directors approved USHA as a full sport discipline at its annual mid-winter board meeting, Jan. 23, in Polk City, Fla. For the entire story, click here:

can you hydrofoil in private lakes? just wondering about the depth. the lake i ski at can get just hair under 4 feet in some spots. i tried it once along time ago at shasta but i had alot to drink and i wasnt very succesful. would like to try again if it didnt cost so much to buy.

I would suggest not...... when your in the water getting ready to get up, the rear wing is like 6' down. So no less than 10' in my book.
Funny story, the local Centaurian dealer here is an old Sea World performer, riding Air Chairs among other things. He started booking weekends on No Wake Lake, which is one of many lakes in WA that Herb O helped create a number of years ago. It's basically a small spring fed pond that they elongated to make it a ski lake. So John starts booking time on the lake for his customers & thinks it might be fun to ride his custom tuned Air Chair. Asks me to come several times but having seen the depth on the lake I declined. A few weeks later he calls me asking if I can tune Air Chair foils. I ask why, what happened to it? Of course he hit bottom & tore his wing & fuselage all up. Now he rides a Sky Ski......
Rodltg, if you or anyone want to try riding a foil sometime, send me a PM & let me know where your located. I'll hook you up with a rider(s) in your area who will gladly take you out sometime.
Incidently, Sky Ski has recently moved to the Shasta area from SoCal.

Off hand, I don't know about Folsom, but I can certainly put the word out.
Some of the best riders in the world on the Sacramento Delta.
Did SkySki move because Mike Murphy sold the company?

Well, Murphy sold the company. And then they moved. I think the reason was more because they could afford more in a smaller market. Instead of contracting production out, their ramping their own production up in a big way. They are hoping to do all or most of the production in house to help drive expenses down.
Plus they had the chance to improve their lifestyle...... from the LA area to Northern Cali. I'd say that improves the quality of life for the workers dramatically!
