Looking at getting my cover modified to fit around my tower. One shop wanted $300+ for 4 cuts, 4 pieces of velcro sewn on, and nylon webbing/quick buckles.
Cover only cost a little over $200 new (Overtons, sharkskin, custom fit, fits well)
Has anyone done this?
I'm taking it to another shop and would like to know what's fair.

I had a cover modified for under $200 bucks by a local shop. They did a real nice job. I can remember the exact price but I remember it was under $200.

On my BU, I made the cuts, bought velcro from Home Depot, and gave it to a car upholstery to sew everything together. It's cost ~$60. I went online and bought some plastic clips for $5 and tied each end of the rope from the cover to the plastics clips. Worked out ok, but I was a little off with the cuts and the cover doesn't quite fit as nicely as I'de like.

Shop around. Prices seemed to vary a lot.

Let us know how you make out.

I'm going to have the same thing done after I put my tower on. Does anyone have pictures of the new style MC cover (ratchet strap hold down style) that is made for the tower. It would be cool to have pics to show the upholstry guy.

No, my current cover does not have tower cutouts. I can either sell it and buy one from BAWS with cutouts or have it modified.

Does anyone have pics of their modified cover, I just put a ND tower on my 205 so I need to have the cover modified. I'm guessing i could just draw where I want the cuts, where the cover would slip over the tower legs, and bring it to the upholsterer, and have them put velcro on it. Can i just make a straight cut, or do you make it more circular towards the tower leg? any help would be appreciated!

These pictures will help you get the gist. I am also looking for a closeup of the seam and buckle at each opening by the tower.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Was sched to take the boat in to another shop tomorrow, sounds like $150 is fair.......................but waiting to hear back from Jim@BAWS. That would be a better deal.

As JohnnyB said (in my case) "Anyone want to buy a good used burgundy cover for a 1996 Prostar 190?"
