View Full Version : Anyone install a bimini top with safe-t top?

Newbie wanting to know if anyone has mounted a bimini top in conjunction with the safe-t top option? I am considering trying to locate a very short (12"-18" high) bimini and mounting it on top of my safe-T top. Typical mounting point would seem to impede my ability to step around the top. I did a search, and turned up nothing. My apologies in advance if this is the wrong place to post such a question.

Thanks

Why not try to find one that can be mounted on the outside of your safe-t top (either near the base of the safe-t top or the outside edge of the boat gunnel). This would make things way simper, and way more practical.

I would thank that a normal bimini would work and so you wouldn't wind up drilling and mutilating a perfectly good Safe-T-Top. The bimini will naturally be higher than the Safe-T-Top and it would be all that you would have to deal with getting in your way, like if you didn't have a bimini. I assume you are wanting to shade the driver/observer/passenger area rather than shade the Safe-T-Top.

do not drill into your Safe-T-Top:rant:  :D !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would just mount the bimini to the windshield and make sure that the height is just enough to clear the Safe-T-Top.

Oh and welsome to the site.

Well, here is what I decided on. It looks pretty good I think. I didn't have to drill into anything, I get the room to walk around the safe-t-top without getting hung or tripping on straps. It is about 6' by 5'8" It is supposed to "dial in like and airplane wing" so I'm hoping the lift will make the slalom wake a little smoother (just kidding). I should be able to take it out Sunday and test it at speed as well as decide on the final height. If anyone is interested I will report back

I have a bimini installed on an 96 ProStar 190 with a safe-t-top. I cannot seem to find a picture of it, but if you need to see what it looks like, I will be glad to take a picture in a few days.

Hmmm interesting as in I have never seen anything like that on a ski boat and have not decided whether I like it, hate it, love it or am luke warm to it.

Post up the picture when you get a chance. I would like to see it.

Well, I got to take it out today, and I am so happy. Although the "dial in like an airplane wing" might be a little much, it took 44 mph as handily as it took 20 mph in high rollers. I give a serious thumbs up to the Fly high ragtop from barefoot intl. It's made really well.

Never seen anything like this on a MC. Did you make this yourself or was it built by someone else?

I saw an ad for it in Overtons, just works with a DD

Made by barefoot intl. heres the barts link. http://www.bartswatersports.com/catalog/Bimini_Tops/Fly_High_Bimini_Top/index.asp Mounts to any pylon. I could move it almost a foot higher or lower, but that is what worked the best for convenience/shade.

Well, it's been more than a few days. But here is the picture.
Sorry I could not pull it out of carport, but working on brakes.

The top came standing to tall for me. I lowered it about 6" but plan on lowering it another 4 or 5.
And as far as drilling holes in the safe-t-top, I would rather drill the top than the boat. 8 holes are better than 12. I will go with the windshield mount with the next boat.
