Hi All,
Im thinking of making a custom enclosure for the bow of my boat.
It is a MariStar 225 vrs, i'd like to make a box out of a thick plexi glass material encorperating a seat where the walk through is. This enclosure would then be upholstered and piped so I could fill and drain it.

Please give me any suggestions or comments on this project.

I have not attempted anything close to this or seen it done, so ALL advice is welcome.

Thanks,
A

You can buy gas tanks of various sizes that you could use instead of fabricating an enclosure. This seems to me to be a good solution as it's made to hold a liquid. If memory serves, 1 gallon of water = approximately 8.33 lbs to give you a size idea.

Doug you are correct about the weight of water. 8.3-8.4lbs. per gallon.

I dont want to use a gas tank because I would have to deal with gasoline and dont want that up front.

In the end im hoping the enclosure would be uhpolstered and look nice. It would also have a seat kinda built in, for a person to sit facing backward to watch a skier right next to the driver.

Please give more idea's.

Thanks,
A

I think what Doug means is to use gas tanks, but fill it with water....

Check with West Marine or Boat US. There are a variety of size and shaped water tanks and holding tanks for larger cabined boats. Most of these tanks already have pre-fabricated hose connectors and brackets to install to the floor. Tanks are usually white in color and can be covered with cushioned material.
Hope this helps. Good luck! :twocents:

T Scott has it right. Buy a gas tank and fill it with water. But if the holding tanks Memo referenced are about the same price, and pre-plumbed, that's your answer.

Check the overtons catalog. They have lots of sizes from which to chose, and the demensions are listed in the blurb.
