i am getting a 2005 X9 with a blue flake stripe....

I want to paint the red engine covers on my MCX engine blue to match. Has anybody done this? Also, do I need to use special paint or should I just have it done by a professional?

If you want to look great I would remove the parts and go to a powder coater and anodizer. It would be easier to change the boat to a Red metalflake stripe. I just had to have metalflake once. It really needs protection from the sun and waxing often. I had my cover customized to come down to the waterline. Now that I have had metalflake I'll not have it again because of how hard it is to keep looking good. The other thing there is only one guy in the Dallas area thats any good with metalflake repairs. You can't just buff out scratchs. But it sure is great looking.

George's advice is the best solution - powder coat and anodize.

That said, you can get high temperature engine paints at most auto parts stores. But I don't know if you could get it to look as shiny-new as what's on there now.

They put blue intake manifold cover on the 04 Tournament Team boats. You might see if they have any of those in stock.

The red and blue used by M/C seem to be a translucent glaze over the silver of the manifold. There's a chance that you would not like the bloue paint or powdercoat as well as the red glaze you now have.

The red looks sharp as is. You don't see it when you're skiing and when you want to show the engine off, the red really has a high wow factor. Kind of like red lipstick on a pretty woman in a blue dress. Anyway, I'd think about leaving it. Don't forget you'll also have to change the valve covers.

And plug wires...

Isn't the intake manifold made of polycarbonate?

April....instead of painting them, how about ordering some unpainted valve covers, painting them to match your boat, and giving me the red one's. Those would look sweet on my Vette! :headbang:

I know that the chrome manifold is from the MC by design, but did you have the valve covers chromed, or did those also come from MC by Design?
Awesome looking engine Diesel! :steering:

I haven't heard of Suzie Duval. Can someone fill me in? I have heard of Sammy Duval and Camille Duval. I'll say Suzie has great taste that chrome is awsome.

That's just a nickname we call the SD edition boats when we see them on the lake. 8p

BTW George how do you like your 206? I am going to look at the 206 and the 216 this year at the local boat show. Any comments on yours??

I tested some 04's that did not have etx manifolds on the mcx, so that's why I wondered...
