Hi guys,

I've decided I really need an impeller puller for my 205V. I see different sizes for sale and I want to make sure I get the one for my size impeller that will fit in the tight spaces between the exaust silencer ect...

Thanks in advance!!!

2 Paint can openers, available at any home depot or lowes for free. Or if you want to spend money get a pair of bent needle nose pliers.

it should be the one that fit's 1 9/16" to 2 9/16".

i used the paint can opener when i had the direct drive but with the limited amount of room i bought the impeller puller with the vdrive.

it worked real well.

thanks guys. I love the paint can opener idea, but I can barely get in there. I need something I can secure on there and take my time turning it out.....

I found it easier to remove the pump and replace the impeller on the bench. It only took 10 mins to pull the pump out. Total job takes about 25 mins, and you know its all good coz you can see what you are doing rather than relying on feel.

mallees,

so you actually removed the impeller housing from the block and did it that way?

Any problems along the way you could share?

thanks,

Two screwdrivers are the easiest and cheapest way to get them out.

Just unplug the coil and crank away. A few turns of the engine and the damn thing comes flying out.

hmmm... I'll have to try the engine cranking method.....

Erk,

Have you tried this on a v-drive? It can get pretty tight in there. Any concern with prying the screwdrivers against the impeller housing?

thanks

I used to work on an Xstar/X2 and if you lube it up a bit it will come right out every time.

Diesel,

What do you lube it up with?

So

Step 1 - lube it up
Step 2 - pull coil wire and crank engine
Step 3 - catch
