The 2003 MC tech manual talks about using a 15W40 oil for the MCX engine. Plus, it must be a SJ/CH4 approved because MC talks about the oil needing to handle any water inversion.

I can't find this oil at Wally World or the auto centers. Do I have to get it from MC? It seems to me that 15W40 is what people use in diesel engines in their pickups, but the SJ/CH4 I can't find.

What is your take on this?

Pennzoil Marine. Kinda hard to find, but I found it at West Marine. Some people have been able to find it at Wal Mart.

Any auto parts, Quick Lube, Jiffy Lube, anybody that sells oil can order it for you if you just ask and give them the specs. out of the owners manual.

OK....I have a West Marine place near me......I now understand its marine grade...being cheap I was just going to use any 15W40 but these MC are not cheap.......so the correct oil is needed. What AC Delco number do you use PF52 and or PF 4?

At Walmart ... it's in the boat section over by the wax and boat bumpers as opposed to the automotive oil section.

Rotella T 15w40 meets the same specs. Can find it nearly anywhere.

I asked the same question of the TXMC service manager. He said to pick up "Pennzoil® Long-Life™
Heavy Duty Engine Oil Maximum Diesel Protection for
Pick-Up Trucks " Which comes in 15w40.

I found it at O'Reilly

Using any oil other than what is recommended would be a mistake And could void your warranty. Mobil Delvac Super 1300 meets the requirements. As far as oil filters for small block chevy, I use a Mobil-1: M1-302 (long filter) or you can use M1-111 (short filter) Some of the owners on here also use the NAPA Gold 1069 which is a very good filter too.

I've been using the Shell Rotella T 15w40 and have had no problems finding it almost anywhere oil is sold.
