View Full Version : X2 amp install - where to screw amp down?

In my 04 X2, where the factory amp is located beneath the stereo and where the battery is, they screwed the amp on the inside wall - which is fine, but I'm not sure what the screws are going into because the wall under the carpet does not seem very thick - you could easily penetrate the other side if the screw was to long. I would like to attach my new amps to the opposite interior wall, but I need to make sure I don't penetrate anything.

What type of screws do you use when installing amps?

Thanks for your help!

The amp is screwed into a piece of wood that is fiber-glassed to the wall. The screws are pretty small but do the job. As for the other side of the compartment you can either, pull the carpet back and glass another piece of wood their or just carpet a new piece of wood to make an amp rack. It is pretty easy to do. It takes about an hour or so if you have all of the materials handy.
