I agree with you on that, but it did have the best sandwich in town.

I regularly frequent the Olive Garden and get the soup/salad/breadstick combo for 6.99. Not the most manly lunch, but it's good, healthy and cheap.

Funny - I literally just sat down with a Jimmy Johns!!

FYI - Quizno's refuses to disclose nutrition information. I stopped eating there because of it - we all know they are hiding extremely high fat/calorie contents...

Take it easy buddy. I'd rather spend my $9 at Quiznos! For real though, all those places are rip-offs.

Has anyone heard of / eaten at a New York Subs? We have a couple/few in Texas and the food is really good. My friend owns a store, they need to franchise that place.

I avoid all of the chain places like the plague. Fortunately here in NOLA there are great local poboy (sandwich) shops on every other corner. You can get a foot long fried shrimp, roast beef and gravy or any other more traditional sandwich makings with a coke for less than $10.

I NEVER eat in a sitdown chain resturaunt. Olive Garden, Applebees or any of the others like them. Low qualtity food for the corporate masses.

Support the local places in your town.

I go to Costco and buy a family pack of spinach, cukes, sliced ham and some cans of tuna. Usually costs me about $24 but I eat off it from Monday through Thursday and only go out to lunch on Friday's. Amazing how much beer money I have since I stopped giving the girl at Subway $10 every day for thier tiny *** tuna wraps.

Upper Michigan Prostar190
04-20-2007, 12:16 PM
Yea I got to watch the funds too. Actually for me, it serves double duty. it manages the costs, and the calorie intake. I watch my budget close because I have to. And I watch my food intake because Its healthy, manages my weight, and I want stay healthy and in shape. I see so many people waste money on food everyday. Some of my coworkers are bad! They easily flush $6 to $10 a day on lunch depending on what they do. and they can really spend it on dinners sometimes. Lunch is a ripoff, plain and simple. Thats the easiest meal to lose your arse on daily. Of course if you go out to a nice restaurant, then hold on to your wallet baby! If Ms. UMP wants to go out to dinner, she generally buys. I cant see spending $50-$75 for dinner for two. thats NUTS! If she wants a nice dinner, I offer to go buy a couple steaks and cook them ourselves on the grill. if she wants to go out, I tremble when I see the bill. She usually has to get me drunk for me to buy. :o

SOrry if we scare you Mike, we are just being practical :o

but I used to eat a bowl of that as a snack, or breakfast, I started losing weight! so I had to cut that out...

Subway's a freakin' joke here too. You can get 3 footlong sandwiches, any variety, for $11.99 I believe. Bought 1 footlong, 1- 6" and a bag of chips and it was $13. (cheaper sandwiches too, not a steakand cheese)
Just out of spite I went there again, got lunch for us. Got 3 footlong deal, paid, got my sandwiches, pulled one out and gave it to the cashier and asked her to throw it away.
She was totally suprised and asked why? Told her it was cheaper than buying 1-12" and 1-6"! She didn't know what to say. (I kept the sandwich, dogs loved it.)
