I'm guessing this has been discussed at length, but I didn't find much. My apologies for my poor search techniques.

Wondering what the opinion on the predator 310hp is? Is it a must to step up to the MCX 350hp? I'm looking for a slightly used x-10/210, x-2/205v/x-star (pre-pickle fork). I was limiting my consideration to MCX, but the predator seems to be much more available.

At what point, if any (rider weight, passenger load, ballast, etc) has it hit the 310 owners that they should have upgraded?

We ski, we board, and we cruise. I'm 6'5" but only 180lbs so getting me out of the hole is not an issue with my '87 PS 190 and not likely to be an issue with any other MC out there. Basically looking for some insight as to whether I'm going to forever regret not having spent a couple grand more.
Thanks

I regularly ski behind a family members 98 Prostar 205 with the 308 TBI engine (the predator is a 310 hp Chevy 350 TBI). This is a nice, torque-filled engine that will jerk you out of the water. With ballast and additional weight, I don't know. But with several people in the boat, it's winning the tug-of-war with me every time. I wouldn't turn down a boat with a predator in it, but I don't know how it translates to wakeboarding. I've never skied behind a boat with an MCX. My carb'd 351W does just fine for me.
