i'd agree w/ that... i got the silver tundra and i got the XD Monsters in black on mine... its a love it or hate it thing... my dad wants me to sell my old wheels but i'd hangin' on to them b/c i'm seeing a new white sequoia in my future and the Monsters are getting swapped over

Toyota's in general are such nice cars, I really like the sequoia. I saw the pic of your truck on wakeside and looks like a great combo!

the leveling kit really did the trick... i like that the wheel and tires are closer to the outside line of the fender flare... gives it a more burley stance... i can't take it onto a toyota lot (my dad's shopping and we're partners in crime) w/ out getting mauled by the salesmen asking about the sizes and stuff and what i did... i guess i did something right... i'm happy w/ it... i'm really wanting to get into the SUV thing... but i'm over buying brand new... take such a beating on them... o well you live you learn... sadly w/ the boating market being what it is i'm better off in my truck right now than i am in my boat

This is my long-haul setup, on our (now) annual pilgrimage across the pass to the "warm side of the mountains".

My rig for "local" towing (10 miles to the lake) is my 96 Subaru Outback. It pulls, stops and launches just fine. I do miss my old '86 Subie wagon that had a hi/low transfer case which made pulling a boat up a ramp easier on the clutch, but the Outback is just enough heavier than the old wagon to not be scary if I have to get on the brakes. I did use it to tow 120 miles up the freeway I bought the boat last spring. It was all good except when it hailed an inch just before starting down a big hill... that was a little hairy-scary but still uneventful. It would have been equally hairy in the 4x4 F-250, and the trip would have used ~3x the fuel $$.

This one's a V-6 and actually pulls quite well. Luckily the ramp is only a few blocks away. I could get a bigger truck, but then I wouldn't have a boat. Life is about tradeoffs!!

That engine is out of one of my boats. It's a 540 with dart heads topped by a 30% over 8-71 blower and it burns methanol. It has a T-400 hooked to it in that pic and the rear end gears are 4:56

It's heavy like any truck and doesn't hook up at all. It'll do a freeway burnout going 80 mph. I keep the stock motor in tact for normal towing and smog checks.

At what RPM does the 540 make that 1200 lbs of move it? I'm guessing you've never had issues with getting of the ramp. Don't forget the bow hook! You might leave that boat at the launch if you get a 1.6 second 60 foot time. Oh, wait, you said it wont hook up. :D

Nope to late for that.

A 1400 HP tow rig that runs 100% meth on the street and twist the frame doing 80 mph burnouts and swap for smog is never gonna make the sanity test, I'm sorry. No one tows with a 30% overdive blower.

Without seeing the BBC that is in that truck, I'll guess a 16% underdrive with whatever oval port heads on pump gas. The TH400 and 4.56 don't make squat when it wont hook.

Thanks for the comment. I ended up putting 22" XD Badlands on my truck with 285/50R22 Toyo Open Country A/T's, just to match the 18" Badlands that are on the boat trailer. No lift or any suspension work at all, just a little trimming on the inside edge (close to the door) of the both fenders.

Here's a little better picture of the truck up close:

This is our first launch after buying a 1977 Stars and Stripes. The truck is a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Crew Cab 4WD Diesel.

Truck is dirty, but it is the only pic I have at present. The almost matching colors is / was unintentional as I have had the truck since December of 06.

The lake is Fayette Lake in Fayette County Texas between Houston and Austin. It is used as a cooling lake for a power plant. In winter months the TX Parks and Wild Life Officers told me the water temp stays at 65- 70 degrees, because of the hot water from the power plant. A nice thing to know for an off-season trip to the lake. I do not think I will go there when it is 105 here in TX.

It got so hot here last Summer that a whole field of corn popped like JiffyPop. The cows in the neighboring field through it was snow, and they all froze to death.

It was cool when we launched in March, but the water nice....smooth too, huh?

Our first launch, and we did not know the alternator was not working. After running for awhile, we cut the engine, and it would not re-strart. We had another battery (duh...but left it in the truck). TPWL Officers gave us ride back to the dock / truck, and back to the boat. We exchanged batteries and loaded up for home.

Here's a picture of my Tow Vehicle. I bought it from a FD in Pennsylvania with a bad head gasket which turned out to be an easy fix. Had 25k miles, 300 gallon water tank, foam kit, and a diesel pump capable of 150 psi. Lights and sirens were included -- including the OPTI COMM system which changes traffic lights from red to green to allow you priority in traffic. No waiting on your way to the launch-- if you could only clear the ramp with the flip of a switch...;)

I had the opportunity to provide some first aid to a couple of 19 year olds who were riding their motorcycles and were rear ended by a minivan. They were o.k. and very lucky. I was on my way to the river when I came upon the accident. It was cool and a lot of fun.

This thing rode like a Cadillac and was very easy to drive. I sold it last summer to a FD who has given it a new home.
Oh, yeah, 11 MPG was not too shabby for a firetruck with Air Conditioning!

Definitely should have gone to the lake as soon as I got up, but it turned out that the only place to launch the boat was way down the sandy/gravelly lake bottom and I wouldn't have been able to get back up to the road on my own. So I needed help from others, who unfortunately weren't up yet. :(

Launching was fine and getting the boat out of the water was ok, but I needed help from the other vehicles in our group to get out of the loose sand and back to the road.

The crappy weather kept the other boats away, so the skiing was great (albeit extremely cold).

However, even when the rain moved in, the water was still smooth as glass. And the coolish temps and rain in combination with the cold water kept the other boaters away. So the skiing was fantastic! :D - I was just a little cold while taking the boat out of the water.

Boat is grey and white.

Well, I just sold my tow vehicle. It just rolled out of my drive way. Sort of in a pickle now because I have no means to get the boat out of the garage until I purchase something new.

Squishd, nice rig. I'm actually considering a C-5500 with a 12' custom bed. Yea, probably a bit much. Anyway, I posted this somewhere before, but it really belongs here. Ford E-350 7.3 with Sportsmobile 4x4 conversion (Dana Pro Rock front axle, Atlas II transfer case, Dynaloc Hubs) and the Sportsmobile van conversion (electric penthouse, seats six, sleeps four, fridge, microwave, solar, inverter, propane range, furnace, rear AC and tons of storage). Oh, lest we forget, '04 X-Star hanging on for dear life.

Never mind dwarfing the 3/4 sub, that thing is huge compared to my 05 Z71 Tahoe. Look at my 45 from behind and there is no visual that it is being pulled by anything. :D

Just picked up a new tow vehicle. A 2009 F-150 King Ranch with all the bells and whistles. After advice from this board got the Max Tow Package with the 3.73 limited slip differential. An added bonus is the coordinating colors with the MC 205.:D

Great looking truck and truck/boat combo! One of the guys that works for me bought a new 2008 like yours....loaded. He told me that he took it in for a service last week, sat in the 2009 and almost traded in his 4,500 mile 2008 as the 2009's are pretty impressive! Congratulations!

Thanks for the compliments. I must admit, it is a very nice upgrade over previous models. I fell in love with the 2009 at the Frankfurt Auto show last January and have just been waiting for the right moment to grab one. The $4500 rebate from Ford helped lubricate the deal. The real selling point for me was being able to get the 6.5 ft. bed on the Supercrew. I just hated those skimpy 5.5 footers. I couldn't believe how easy it was to hitch up last night with the back-up camera! No more spotters needed.:D

Killer truck. I just sold our Explorer so my wife could have a car again. Part of the deal was that I could buy a truck this spring. Unfortunately I won't be able to do "new". I hope to find a nice 07 - 08 F150 Super Crew but doubt it'll be as sweet as yours. I'll be a good start though!

love those boat covers! assuming they came with your boat.? Do you know if they are available for a 2000 Maristar? Also, for a couple of weeks during the summer, my boat is tied to a dock and i would like to cover at night. Any suggestions for a cover for that application. I am assuming the one in the photos is a travel cover only.??

The cover came with the boat. I only use it when the boat is at our dock on the lift or when I pull it to put in the storage shed for the winter. While the cover works very well for keeping the boat clean, it is not a good idea to travel long distances @ HWY speed---I have heard stories of the cover rubbing the gel coat.

I just picked up my new tow rig last week. 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged, 510hp. So much fun to drive, but no tow package is out for it yet  Hopefully soon, going to need to get out once or twice before it gets too cold.
