Towing the 40th Home from the cottage. Brought it home to give it a nice wax/polish and take it into the dealer for a 20 hour maintenance and fix some engine feedback in the stereo.

Trailer is just a service loaner trailer that Buckeye Marine has for their customers. Can't complain...

This 2008 GMC Sierra replaces a 2006 Sierra. It's a lot nicer truck. It has a 3.73 rear end but gets about the same mileage as my previous truck which had a 3.56 rear end, mainly due to the Active Fuel Management thing where it switches down to only 4 cylinders when it's not under a load.

LOL...............Why did you buy a tan boat???

it was used - and in great condition. the guy the had it before me was a fire fighter, and if you know a fire fighter than you know that they have nothing to do by sit around and polish their toys most of the time. its a good boat, but man it looks strange to have a bright white truck towing a tan and red boat (im sure that most people think it is faded white, not sure if this is better or not).

Just picked up my new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door. I had to special order it to get the color and options I wanted. It took about a month to come in but well worth the wait. I did get the towing package and the rear locker diff., 4:10 gears and off road package. I took it to the lake for the first time the other day and it pulled the boat nice. Even at 6,000' elevation it did well. Not a perfect match (color) to the boat but hey, it's nice going to the lake with the top down! Also much better on gas than my Suburban is!

that looks exactly like mine. But mine is a sahara. Awesome car, but haven't tried towing with it yet. I would post a picture but I can't.im on my Itouch.

Good Deal! We normally venture up to Shasta every few years, but have decided to not go this year. My girlfriend just was up in Trinity at the end of last month... looks like a very pretty lake.

Ix-nay on the Ullards Are-bay...that's a SECRET lake...

I don't make it up there much any more, but we used to ski Almanor every summer for two weeks. We have friends with a house in Lewiston, so we've been to Trinity (very nice).

Now I mostly ski Lake Sonoma and the Delta (Grant Line and Victoria Sloughs)

Very nice setup you've got there!

Thank you. Did I say Bullards Bar, I meant New Melones....;)
(secret kept)

As far as the Delta I wanted to share a quick note- (let me know if another forum would be appropriate for this note)
This weekend I was out on the Delta having just taken delivery of my new X-45. Long story short, the fuel gauge wasn't/isn't calibrated correctly and I ended up in a bad situation.

The folks at Whiskey Slough Harbor, specifically Tom, were awesome. Way above and beyond.

Their facility is clean, modern and secure. If you are considering a launch point or a storage facility, I would put in a big thumbs up for this location and highly recommend Tom as an all around great guy and very helpful.

What is this Trinity Lake you talk about? ;) We frequent Berryessa, the Delta, and go camping to that nice lake in NorCal every year. This year is looking sketchy because of the fires, it has been really smoky. We had cancelled the trip and was going to go to Don Pedro, but then that big fire near Yosemite started and we are having second thoughts. Might just suck it up and go to Trinity. The lake should be empty, more glass for us!
Also planning a trip to Bullards, hopefully there will still be water.

Finally took a photo of the new tow rig. Yukon Denalli with all the toys. The backup camera is sweet for hooking up the boat. Back it into position, get out and lower it down. The boat has some red trim that doesn't show well in the pictures but matches the Denalli. Has the 6.2 liter and on the first tank I reset the average fuel gage reading on the highway at 67 mph and it was getting 21.7 over several miles. Even off the highway it was still getting over 20 for a while. The 04 with the 5.3 would never go above 18 on the highway. Both those numbers are without the boat. I bought the Denalli on a Tuesday. The third photo was the vehicle I bought on that Monday. It was a good week.

i would suggest getting a good pic and bringing to a full color graphic printing place, like a higher end FastSigns or a private sign company. The can Solvent print it or Just do Layers of Vinyl like on the boat. Would def look sick, use to make stuff like this for customers all the time hwen i did graphic design, so easy to apply and really all not that expensive. For both sides it shouldnt run you move than 150-200 a side if you apply it yourself. Good luck

No. If I were, my screen name would change from 87 TriStar 190 to 09 ProStar 197. Can't complain though. The company I work for is doing well right now. Lots of new contracts and hiring.

Beginning to think the Denalli was the right move. Paid $3.15 for regular on the way home today. That's movement in the right direction.

I moved from HB a year ago to OH.

Speaking of, I never posted pics of that fun process.

How's this for a 'TOW' vehicle? Note the left trailer wheel is within the bed guides, and the right is perched on top of the guide rail. The flatbed used on extraction in OH had removable guides, both were a little stressful.

It's a bigger risk the boat would fall onto 'the other stuff'. Since the weight of the boxes is evenly distributed over all flooring and cross beams. The boat would have the majoriy of it's weight on only two cross beams. Plus, getting the boat in & out at that height would have required a very stout forklift. For time and cost, options were get to a loading dock then back to the house to squeeze in more goods or use a flatbed tow truck.

I was trying up until the last minute to sell the boat on Ebay, the for sale signs were still in each side window when it was loaded.

I'll leave that answer for the Alumns and OH lifers. Of which I'm surprised haven't swooped in with enthusiasm...must be prepping for game-day parties. I'm going skiing during the game. OSU football is the best thing for smooth water around here.

I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to the what and why for the significance of the Buckeye tree and it's nuts, as well as the nut-headed mascot Brutus. I should look it up one day since I'm looking to apply to OSU's PTMBA program.

I try to imagine how the USC Palms, or the UCLA Joshua Trees sound. But, hey it's certainly no worse than the Toronto Maple Leafs right?

I am relocating for work and they will not ship my boat. They ship everything else except boat (over 16 feet) and motorcycles. I had to drive it 2000 miles on my own to get the boat to the destination. They would have charged me $4500 to ship the boat due C.O.D. I said no way and drove it myself. Everything else is being taken care of for us.

added 2" leveling kit and added 18x9 KMC XD Monsters w/ a new set of 275/70/18 Nitto Terra Grapplers for a little different look... still rides great w/ no noticeable difference on the mileage and the 2" leveling kit really beefed up the front end and looks a ton better

Nice Armada. I have one in canteen green. It is a great tow vehicle. Do you have the load leveling suspension also. It is a great feature because you can load it up and hook on the boat and it still stays nice and level.

02-21-2009, 01:26 PM
The load levelling suspension is great. Especially when I hook up the boat and have the dogs in the back (about 170lbs worth).

I wanted the green but the wife wasn't into it.
