Here's my rig! Buying the boat has kind of constrained my finances, so this will have to do for now. Its a '95 Caprice Police Package, with several choice modifications (cam, headers, exhaust, etc). The push bars are set to be reinstalled shortly. That's right, its also got a distributor hitch. Pulling the boat without it was not a pretty sight, so its a good thing my dad had his old one still around. At least the ramp is only 1/4 mile away.

njskier - You are in NJ, but got your boat at Hern?

Onewheat,

Yes, I bought the X-star from Hern in January, towed my 230 out there and towed the X-star back to NJ. The deal was too good to pass up, plus I wanted black/white anyway.

Now, if I could just start actually USING the boat soon, that would be nice! :) (maiden voyage next weekend after yardwork is finished)

as much as the 1500hd suits my needs, my next truck may be an avalanche if I can get one with a motor/gearing combo that I like
I have the 5.3L with 4:10 gears. The 4:10 were the hubbies big deal so we had to look a little to find one with those gears most had 342's.

If I understand correctly as I've been looking at selling mine to upgrade to an '07 the most of them come with 373's now and that would be fine with me. I am holding off on selling because rumor has it that GM is coming out with a new transmission soon, it will be a 6 speed automatic.

looks like you have a nice 3 car garage what size is it??
Let me tell you it doesn't matter how big the garage it is never big enough, especially when you are married to a mechanic.

The 2 car garage is 22x30 with a 16x8 door and the single car is 16x24 with a 10x8 door. The X10 gets it's home in the single car all summer.

We also have a 36x45 pole shed and he still wants more room, I think we are adding a little storage shed to the back yard for his lawn mowers and stuff like that.

Thread jack over....carry on with the tow vehicles.

I go back and forth between "I'd love to upgrade my '05 Avalanche to an '07" and "I'm gonna keep this for 10 years". Said the same thing in '05 about my '03.:) So good to know about the 6 speed, thanks.

The 6 speed auto is already out in the Denali and Escalade but rumor has it that production of them is still not enough to put them in all of the GM trucks next year. Only the '08 hybrid Tahoe/Yukon will get them in '08. The rest of them probably won't get it until '09.

Yes. Hybrid as in has batteries and an electric motor to assist the gas motor. Flex-Fuel just means you can run on Ethanol.

Not all of them. Most are though. All 4x4s are flex and it is a no cost option on 2wd. I am pretty sure all of the '08s will be flex. Mine is but there is not a station that sells ethanol within 400 miles of me.

Yeah, I have actually NEVER seen a station with FlexFuel. Are they doing the Displacement on Demand for the 6.0's yet? I really want an new 2500 Suburban with a 6.0!!

No DOD on the 6.0. I have a feeling they are not going to. I think they are going to phase out the 6.0 in favor of the 6.2 with DOD that they are currently putting in the Denali/Escalade. Not immediately but I think in the relatively near future. ICBW

We can definetly match rims on the boat and trailer. However, there is no direct match to the MC rims of the trailer you have.

We are setting up a demo "RIG" so that the rims on the truck match the trailer rims. It will be a PWT X-Star and Ford Excursion......24" rims on the truck!

Saw this truck with the rims over the weekend, looked real sharp, man thats a lot of chrome. Did not see the boat on the trailer though, it was getting wet. Did Mark have the new XStar out on Sunday?

Saw a thread on another forum with some pretty cool tow/rig setups. Searched and couldn't find one here.

Here's my toy:

2007 X-45 Switch loaded w/ 8.1L
2005 F250
- 22" Wheels
- 40" Tires
- 6.0L Diesel
- Bullydog programmer & Edge Attitude
- Modified 11" Fabtech lift w Traction Bars
- NOS
- High Flow Ram Intake & 4" Exhaust
- DVD, Navigation, 2 cameras, 10gig hard drive, XM, etc.

http://www.tmcowners.com/photopost/data/500/medium/rig_1.jpg

A bit of a self serving thread start I think; but still...: This rig takes it (the trophy) hands down, no discussion. I have seen more expensive setups that don't look this good.

Must be some broken necks at the ramp.

I think mine is clean, nice, but not in this league.

I keep it looking tip-top shape. do everything it needs mechanically. it looks great, and NO payments, and It allows me to save money for my next vehicle to pay cash for it, and I can have some cool toys along the way too. Also, that way you dont have to WASTE money paying interest. I am all for it. Gawd I love being cheap!!!!:D

Finally got around to taking a pic of my rig. 2006 X15 towed by a 2007 Tundra Double Cab. 381hp, 401 ft-lbs of torque. Brakes are the most impressive thing, though.

Hope everyone had as great of a Memorial Day weekend as we had in NC. Sunny and mid to upper 80's. Awesome!

Must be some broken necks at the ramp.

Just picked up my new 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 door. I had to special order it to get the color and options I wanted. It took about a month to come in but well worth the wait. I did get the towing package and the rear locker diff., 4:10 gears and off road package. I took it to the lake for the first time the other day and it pulled the boat nice. Even at 6,000' elevation it did well. Not a perfect match (color) to the boat but hey, it's nice going to the lake with the top down! Also much better on gas than my Suburban is!

Not too bad for towing. I do like the way the 4 door rides vs. the 2 door. I do know that the V6 that is in the Jeep has a lot of power but for the 2008's I believe they are going to offer a V8 powerplant. That should make a huge difference.
I will have to check the rating for the set up I got on mine. Like I said, even out here in Colorado at 6,000' above sea level it's not too bad!

Thanks Guys!

Yeah, air bag popped when I pulled out of the gas station parking lot. They have a max pressure of 30 psi and I brought them to exactly that, so the only thing I can thing of is that they were over pressured. I was VERY light on my load especially tongue weight and stuff in the luggage area of the car, because I sent 90% of the stuff up earlier in my gf's parents RV. It was just me and the gf in the car, so it was not like I had 10 people piled into the car either. I need to take it apart and see what the deal is... hopefully it is just an air line that came off the fitting and not an exploded bag.

I had autoride, but I had to replace the autoride shocks with shorter shocks and put in air bags when I lowered it. Now, I have air bags inside my rear coils. Pretty much, what it comes down to is that I will never use the lowering kit I used on anything, ever again... I have seen much better designs since I installed mine.

I relate young men and their radically lowered vehicles to young women and their breast implants, the problems are very simular if things go wrong, except the men don't have silicone leaking on the driveway! so you're saying that they are all compensating for something?

Really wish I had a reson to get a diesel, I settled with the 1500 with the 4.8L and 4.10 rear end. Maybe now wishing I got the 5.3L.

26382 VERY NICE how's the ride?

OhioProstar
08-21-2007, 07:41 PM
The ride is stiffer than my 1500 Z71, but much better than my in-laws F250. The interior noise is very low as the new diesel is about as quiet as you can get. I can't wait to put some weight back there and see how it rides then. We are looking at trailerable cabin cruisers for next season and I wanted to have enough truck for the job. They picked it up from a different dealer in Indiana and it got 18.9 miles to the gallon on the way over to Dayton.

Did I miss the memo? Did UA take Erkoeler's old position?

Clean rigs look the best, but I for one like seeing a truck get dirty. My wife used to think it looked all nasty and gross. I've since convinced her it more appropriately means someone had a lot of fun.

Just don't leave it that dirty for a month.
Get it dirty, wash, rinse, repeat.

Wow, I know that's stressful!

Try keeping at least 2 vehicles and a boat clean, self employed/full time job/10 hours a day/sometimes 6-7 days a week, bills paid, yard mowed, family fed, clothed and happy for over 40 years, and still going as strong as I can!
