How's she tow the NXT?

I only towed it from storage to the gas station, about 1 mile. It's so quiet and smooth it was hard to tell it was even there. I'll get a better feel for it once I tow it to the lake, which is about 30 miles away.

We have been going to Boyd Lake in Loveland this year, about an hour north of Denver. The past years we were on Standley Lake in Westminster.

For a few lakes as there are in the area, there are a number of MCs and other tow boats.

Good to hear, there might be a move to the mountains in my future but I still want to get a boat

Got a new tow rig the other week but didn't get a chance to post a pic because I've been in England for the last 10 days. I got it the other week and had enough time to drive it home and wash it then put it in the garage while I was across the pond. 2016 LML with just 23k miles, it is a LT but does have the heated cloth seats. So far I love it, the camper top came with it, I've never been a huge fan but I do think this one looks decent on the truck. I'll probably leave it on through hunting season then decide whether to take it off for next summer or not. Right now I just can't wait to get the windows tinted and get the boat behind it.

Big thanks to Corbin for taking a Friday evening to go check it out for me. I had a lot going on and wasn't able to get out to St. Louis to check it out so he did it for me. I probably wouldn't have bought it without myself or someone I trust laying eyes on it. Right after he got done test driving it another couple was waiting to do the same so based on his critique of the truck I went ahead and just pulled the trigger over the phone and the dealer had the truck delivered to me a week later after we got all the paperwork and money exchanged. I never thought I'd buy a truck like this but after doing it I have no regrets.

Since I mentioned the trip to England I'll throw in a couple teaser pics from our trip. The lake district was amazing, I'll be going back there for sure.

Great looking truck. The camper top looks awesome.

My father just bought a 2018 2500 and they pull incredibly.
I pulled the X23 behind it and it felt like it wasn't even there. My favorite part was merging on the interstate with the boat. :D

He added an air lift system to the rear to help with sag and bounce.

My dad has a 18' and the L5p is awesome. I wanted one bad but the right deal never came up so I jumped on this one when I found it.

I did have a deal worked out on a 3 month old midnight edition that a guy of craigslist was selling because he wanted out of his $800/month payment. We agreed on a price and I had everything setup and when he went to the bank and realized he needed to come up with $6k just to sell it to me he about s*** a brick. He obviously wasn't the most financially responsible human but I wasn't going to tell him that.

It's really just crazy how much the dealers totally control the market these days. It's almost impossible to find a nicer/newer truck in the private market anymore and when you do it's a complete pita to deal with the banks and lean releases and everything else.

Before I purchased my 2018 1500, I tried finding a 2500, but the prices are absurd. The dealer looked all over but it was way over budget.

If they would fit in my garage and I towed the boat every weekend I would have one. But with my few tows a year, I cant justify it. Instead I have a 1500 with the 6.2L which does great with everything I throw at it.

Yeah my 2014 with 6.2L had a push rod snap in half and lifters go out. Both separate instances. When the lifters went out the dealer basically took my 2014 off my hands and got me into a 2018 at a very good price.

I think its very hit of miss. GM does have a problem with Lifters, apparently they had a bad batch similar to the Nautique prop shafts.

According to the shop foreman at the Chevy dealer, the pushrod was a one off that he had never seen. They even had a GM mechanic from Michigan come down to see this because it wasn't something that occurred frequently.

I upgraded my tow rig 2 months ago and I couldn't be happier!

OLD TOW RIG:
I had a 2007 Silverado CCSB LTZ 4x4 and I sold it with 222k miles.

NEW TOW RIG:
I custom ordered a brand new 2018 Ram 2500 CCSB 4x4 Laramie Sport Appearance with the Cummins. Pulls like nothing is back there, it's amazing! I swear I get to the lake quicker on Fridays too.

Naturally the truck had to match the boat/trailer colors, and the trailer needed tires at the same time... so it got new wheels & tires a couple weeks ago

Thanks guys! I wanted one for years and after towing the boat a couple times with my buddy's 2016 Duramax Denail 2500 I knew I needed to just pull the trigger and buy a diesel. When RAM released the Sport Appearance Package I was 100% sold.

I like the Ford's as well, I just couldn't justify the extra $8-10k for a similarly optioned truck... and I even get employee pricing through my brother who is an Engineer for Ford in Detroit.

What engine? How does it tow the X-30? I have someone interested in my F250 and I would probably go back to a F150. I feel like there's more interior room in the 150s than my 2014 250. Don't know how I feel going back to a gas engine though.

I went from a 2015 F150 5.0 to a 2012 modded F250 6.7, now have this ecoboost. There is hand over fist WAY more room than the previous gen 250, and the ecoboost tows the 30 so much better than the 5.0. Like a shocking amount. I have been really happy with the change back to the F150. Towing stability is what youíll miss, and the power is so intoxicating with the 6.7, but the 3.5 ecoboost is an awesome engine in the half tons.

Maybe, just maybe, if you don't BRO these trucks out they will last a bit longer. It took me a while to learn this but I have.

When you put big/wide rims and tires on a vehicle that isn't designed for that type of extra load, the end result is what you got.

I put a good 6" lift on my current truck, keep the OEM rims and added bigger tires, and didn't put any tune except a speedo calibrator and its been flawless.

all the aftermarket stuff is to blame for a lot of the issues we have with trucks these days.

The only thing on my truck that has been neglected is the tow hitch.[emoji17], every thing else has been rock sold on this truck (knock on wood). Not your typical f150. Love the room in the f150s.

Finally got the boat behind the truck but unfortunately it rained this morning so it wasn’t clean. First pic is of my old man's setup when we dropped it off to get winterized, second pic is right before we put the 15 in the water for what was most likely our last surf session of the year.

Right most full size trucks, not a Tacoma, the stock rims are 7" or 7.5" Then add on top of that 12.5" wide tires larger than factory with some sort of leveling kit. A Tacoma isn't made for that additional stress on its parts, hence the CV issues. My full size trucks aren't meant for that.

That's a very common problem with aftermarket suspension kits.

Stock tacoma wheels are 7" or 7.5" with a 25-30mm offset. You were at 9" with a lot larger offset. I'll agree with you that they look better than stock but you are kidding yourself if you think that wider wheels with more offset doesn't affect front end suspension wear.

I'm sure you know of someone, somewhere who has had these. Doesn't make you a subject expert, which is fine, but making these sweeping judgements ("my CV's went out on my lifted/aftermarket wheeled Taco; ergo Toyota CV quality sucks") seems overreaching.

Similarly, I saw somewhere you mentioned "building" your F250, which was clearly bought modified. It's just unnecessary...

I have only bought one truck built ever, and would never claim to have built it. I sell Jeeps and lift them myself, and I do all my own work to my trucks besides my f250 that I had for 3 months... lol.

Toyota people will always chose to discredit anyone who claim against Toyota quality. The new ones suck, transmission was so bad it almost killed me pulling out into traffic, luggy, unresponsive throttle... yeah no thanks. The Toyota quality notion is a fallacy... no doubt the old ones are reliable, but thatís because theyíre simple.

Toyota makes an outdated inferior product, and their business model solely relies on perceived reliability. And there will always be homers who buy them based on that alone.

Lifting sfa Jeeps and lifting IFS are different ball games.

The three recent model year 4wd Toyota trucks I've owned all swam (or are swimming) upstream of your notion that quality has slipped. I'd certainly buy another if I felt the need, though the recent influx of "TRD Pro"/LED lightbar/ expedition-to- the-mall crawlers jumping ship from Jeep to Toyota does put me off somewhat.

i have never had issues with a truck and its front end running 12 inch wide wheels and the aggressive offset. I am not easy on my trucks, and have thousands and thousands of miles on trucks with the same 12 inch wide wheels with a -40 offset, including 4k towing miles this summer..... maybe in 100k miles ill see premature wear, but as you know ill trade it in long before that.

the offset trucks look like they are squatting to take a poop

there are no performance benefits to doing that, with that wide of a tire, correct? Purely for looks? I'd imagine it affects the handling in a negative way.

American racing are crappy wheels lol. It definitely doesnít affect the handling in a negative way, because youíre widening the stance and not putting tall skinny tires on it making it more prone to roll...

I still use my trucks as truck, always have. The 250 will see 20k loaded on a gooseneck, and Iíll still be towing the boat and our car hauler..

I just towed the X30 to Vonore and back... almost 2k miles total, with a 600 mile round trip down to canyon lake and back prior all on 22x12s on 35x13s. I would wager thatís more towing than most people do with their boring trucks over their lifetime of their boat ownership lol

You are probably too young for this, but I can remember when 33s and 35s were big tires.

Nowadays you need 40s or bigger to be a baller.

A stock Super Duty has tires that are about 34" tall.

a proper Texas "hey look at me!" truck!

Are rock lights the ones that light up the wheel well?

Not my style, but I'm sure you rock it well. I really liked your 250, which I will admit makes me a hypocrite because that truck was huge. However, to me there is something about a 3/4 ton chassis that you can slap on 35s without a lift that I love. The jacked up baby 1/2 tons just don't do it for me.

Keep tricking that 150 out, don't forget to keep us updated on what the running tab is!

The snow hides a lot of stuff. Put up plenty of orange fiberglass stakes. Better yet, the steel fence stakes from TSC are easier to see, get their pole driver as well. Hurry up, its getting cold.....Plowed for 25 years FTS! I'm goin' to Florida when I grow up.
