Congrats Mark - As a previous winner of this prestigious award & now judge for the contest :D My son & I walked the lot at the The Boggy, giving consideration to all of the Rigs and match to their boats, while there were a lot of great rigs this year, certainly the most 250/2500's we have seen to date, and some really great rigs made judging pretty tough.

FYI - For us, and we are not even Ford guys, what put you over the top... - Matching color of the X, raised Chrome MasterCraft emblem on the back window & the sweet hard cap on the back.

You are now a Judge for next year, congrats again my friend!

I've owned a few nissans over the years and they were good solid reliable cars. I find myself rooting for them as they seem like a perennial underdog to toyota. The concept of a smaller cummins seemed like a great idea, but I've got to agree with the above sentiment. That truck just doesn't look good.

You only pay the difference between the purchase price and sales price. In this case it was less than a thousand I believe. I paid no sales tax on the F150 since I traded in two jeeps that were worth more than the 150.

Awesome man!! Yea same tires as me. I have the 20x9's. I don't think that BMF made a 20x12". It's likely a 10".. It's probably a lot. What year is it? Yea 800 at the flywheel is like 600 or so at the wheels I bet. Which is about right.

I'm honestly afraid of blowing a head gasket or something. Bentley at H&S did the custom tunes on it. Is 600 at the wheels safe?

It's a 12 with 60k on it. It's got dual lift pumps, so does that mean I don't have a CP4? I'm looking for reliability more so than anything. Tows the boat like it's nothing on the stock tune, but my mini max still says I can peak 42lbs of boost on the lowest tune which scares me too lol

So lifting a head on these trucks isn't really to heard of like the 6.0 and 6.4's.. They have 6, I SAY AGAIN SIX!! Bolts PER cylinder. You'll be fine there. The weak link is the pistons and rods compared to the 6.4's. 600 is at that point where it's teedering back and forth on what's considered safe. I personally wouldn't run the hottest tune, but that's just me. I personally have 4 tunes on my 2013.. Tow, street, street race, and race. I'm ALWAYS on tow.. I've done street race a few times, but never race. I know a good bit about these trucks, as I've done all the work myself in my garage on mine. So if you have any questions just let me know. I also have a 900rwhp Cobra so for me there is no reason to run around on my hottest tune. My wife daily's my truck and on the tow tune if you give it to much gas it'll engage all the traction control features and the truck just shuts down basically lol.

With dual lift pumps you still have the CP4. And that's ok. Most people don't change that out due to all the work required. I will say that when diesels break they are astronomically more expensive to fix then say my Cobra engine in my car lol.

MC25

09-02-2017, 02:58 PM
Yea I would do that. also H&S doesn't support anymore and honestly a old technology. There are far better platforms for tuners. X4 from SCT, EZ-LINK, etc. I would hit up No Limit Fabrication. They do a lot of aftermarket stuff for the 6.7's and they're great to deal with.

Do you have EGR still? Or is that completely gone, or just block off plates? Intake? Crank Case vent delete? Take a picture of the engine bay to your truck and post it up. I can tell if you do or don't

MC25
09-02-2017, 03:13 PM
It's completely gone I believe. It's got some sinister diesel plates on the engine. Crank case vent delete? How would I know if it had that? Steam out the drivers side? Lol

It has the fresh oil change sporadic tick. Drives me insane lol

98 Saleen Cobra
09-02-2017, 03:35 PM
yep no EGR at all. On the drivers side back there would be no black plastic canister.. and yea there would be venting smoke from it to the atmosphere.

Dude so you MIGHT have an upgraded pump to the CP3 looking at that pulley. Bro someone spent A LOT of money on that truck lol

That ****ing tick drives me nuts bro.. Seriously!!

I found the dude on Facebook and he said he had to get rid of it because he moved to an emissions county and couldn't register it lol. He got a new raptor. Everything was done 10k miles ago. Yeah I don't see a black canister!

98 Saleen Cobra

Damn that sucks. I'm grateful that I don't have to worry about emissions either.. Even in Cali. I can't wait to get back to Alabama though, thinking that'll be my next station again. No ****s given there for sure. Yea the old owner has like 10k easily into that truck's engine with labor. Then the lift kits wheels tires etc.. **** the headlights alone are like 1500.. I know mine were close to 1k and I don't have the projector top portion.

Ford F-150 4X4 King Ranch Edition. Living at the lake no longer requires the stout tuggers (Powerstroke Excursion, Cummings Ram 2500) we have had in the past. I can definitely feel the XT on the trips to the dealer, but as a daily driver, the F150 is so much more comfortable and quiet.

Been as high as 42 mph (gps) but not full throttle. I have the stock prop and I am sure that will be the top speed governor, it is one of the WakePro models. We run 3K in ballast plus people and the boat gest on plane pretty fast with auto launch.

From what the dealer(s) say it's one of about ten in the country, I now kinda drive like I only used to drive when towing, like I own the road.

I've also been thinking about Chevy or Ford (as I'M neither biased nor experienced with trucks) but there are at least a few RAMs here so a few dealers are accustomed to them.

^^^Post photos of that trailer. Interesting looking.

What do you want to know/see? It's a german trailer completely customized.
U.S. trailers are almost impossible to legalize here as the brakes/axles have to be certified components, brakes are mechanical push activated.

This makes a lot of sense. When I was working at Ford, we had a driveline expert and he was explaining how U-joints don't like to run at 0 degrees or at high angles. His recommendation was to be at 1 degree of bend at designs conditions. If you needed more angle, you needed to spend the big bucks for a CV joint in your driveshaft. The 2005-2014 mustangs had 2 CV joints in their driveshafts to help smooth out the ride.

There are many complaints about the chevy shake on the chevy forums. Seems 2015 was the worst year but others are still complaining in 16/17 year models. I just purchased a new Tahoe Premier and mine does NOT shake. Very smooth. But i will tell you that if mine shook like that utube video, it would be at the dealer until it was 100%. No way would i put up with that. Its NOT normal.

My Chevy dealer had my truck for 2 weeks trying all this stuff on it, they balanced the tires and stuff too (this was when it was none stock) and the pinion angle shim did the job. I only got the shake at certain RPMs under heavy throttle.

Miss that truck.

2 weeks to figure out a vibration under throttle was driveline related? Not sure why they were considering the tires as a possible cause.

LC fan here as well. Though I might argue the FZJ80 was the "best".:) My DD is a 97 locked collectors edition. My wife is on her 2nd LX570 and were looking at downsizing to the GX in a few years. What do you guys think about the rear door vs. the LC clamshell hatch?

Nice! I'm happy to hear there's a few LC fans in here. Either of you over on Ih8mud? I love the look and simplicity of the 80's but I needed something with a little more pep in its step. The 4.7L is considered a dog by most V8 standards but it's hands down better than the I6 of the 80's. It's also proven to be one of Toyota's most reliable engines. Also, mine being an 04 with the extra gear made it a solid choice for my family rig. That 570 is very nice! I'd imagine it would be a huge change stepping down to the GX line from the LX. I feel quite cramped in the driver seat of my wife's.

Hmm, clamshell vs swinging door...?? I like both. If I had to choose one, it'd be the clamshell of my 100 series only because I like having that tailgate still. It makes me feel like I'm still driving a truck....some what. The door is nice too though. I'm thinking of adding the gas prop mod to my wife's for an auto open feature.

Eventually was called and X-1 and X-2 depending on the year ... eventually the X-2 became the Picklefork one. and the X-1 was this boat you see in front of you ... a 205V ... or even X-star if you look at the right years.

So damn straight ... it is an X - Series ! ;)

I want to say the first run of '03 X2's had the "series" decal instead of the one we usually see.

So as I understand it: The first run of the X Star was until 2002. 03 was an odd year where the X2 and the Xstar did not yet exist. In the meantime, the X1 was called the X Series. At the far end of 03, the pickle fork came out and became the 03 Xstar. The pointy nose version became the X2.

Regardless it has the 205 hull. This set up is Badd-A$$$ in my opinion. Does everything I need it to and looks awesome.

Haha, it actually surprised me on the short drive I had. Plenty of power, trailer brakes work well so stopping was ok. Only concern was if a little pot hole was going to send me off road lol. Definitely not ideal and I don't recommend it, but it worked in a pinch. My regular rig is a Expedition EL, it does a little better.

Truck on the left got heads stufs and gaskets. Truck on the right is getting turbos.

Injectors and glow plugs are pretty much the only thing you can do to the engine with the cab on. Honestly it's not as bad as it looks. I had both off in under 1.5 hours each.

Don't really have a name for the diesel end as it's the same buisness. We own a Goodyear independent dealer and offer full gas vehicle service in the other end of the shop and diesel on my end.

It's kinda low key. However I'm the only shop that specialized in diesel other than the dealers in my town

It's from about 4-5 years ago and was just a single tune that was loaded into my truck, no separate black box, only loaded into the truck. ('09 Cummins, auto, 4x4)

Im going through this with my 1500. The guy that originally did mine is no longer in business and I purchased the AutoCal. But the AutoCal is married to his main device and other tuners cant mess with my AutoCal. EFI live isn't very responsive.

I have been told that the newer vehicles are getting harder and harder to mess with as they changed alot of the codes to unlock the vehicle computer for the 2017-2018 trucks.

No there is not. You'll have to find a new tuner and start fresh if you ever need to change or get a new ecm

You'll just have to get a new auto cal. No one can unlock them but the original tuner.

Edit: efi probably can but seeing how they are based in another country it's not going to happen.
