I know a old x star on the mc trailer is close to trucks! Like you have to pay attention or you'll loose tail lights on the pickle

Ask bud about that... whoops lol

Mastercraftdave

Good idea , you could use some air bags in the back. With the weight your pulling, and to level that ride out.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

it is normally pretty level as I left the rake with the lift to help with that. But the extra weight of the atv added the sag.

I think MC fixed that with the new trailers. There is about 3-4ft from the end of the trailer to the pickle forks.

My 2011 x25 trailer had a massively long tongue. The 04-11 stars, not so much

I'm sure they did, the x star being the first pickle boat I don't think they had taken that into account yet.. It's darn close if you turn sharp on an older star

Aric try not being a douche for like 2 minutes while you spend your parents money.

Now if you didn't ask it like a tool kid with a silver spoon I'd answer that I did not. Think I was out the door with the extended warranty and oil changes for warranty duration for around 48. They gave me about 4k more than kbb on my trade and I was happy for a new loaded truck.

PS: Seriously grow up. You really must have no idea how ignorant you sound.

5.3. Wasn't thrilled with it compared to the 6.0 or the hemi I've driven in the past but I'm 2 miles from the lake now so towing long distance wasn't a huge concern. Don't think you can get the 6.2 in the SLE and for the price I wasn't spending an extra 20k+engine upgrade for a 17. FYI for anyone looking they are running a legit 20% off msrp + incentives.

And thanks on the color. Evidently they aren't using that color anymore and I've always had a thing for it.

I have the White Diamond, but my other favorite color is this one. You did good on the price.

The 5.3L with the larger tires should tow your boat just fine. I just love the 6.2L with the lift. Its a super fun truck to drive.

98 Saleen Cobra
01-01-2017, 08:43 PM
Yea they are monsters stock that's for sure. I deleted mine in my driveway.. I can tell you that after the gunk that I saw deleting it, the DPF/EGR/CCV aren't good for these trucks. I keep mine on the tow tune all the time (lowest setting) it makes more power than stock for sure but doesn't strain it at all. I've had mine on the Hot street tune as well. That's just stupid lol. I haven't ran the full on race tune but I can only imagine lol.

MC25
01-01-2017, 10:01 PM
Is it that easy to do with the DEF?

98 Saleen Cobra
01-01-2017, 10:19 PM
I mean I've built cars. I'm very mechanically inclined. But again I did the DPF deleted, EGR delete with block off plates, and CCV delete in my driveway.. It's very easy to say the least.. The DPF is heavy I would recommend two people or 1 person with a floor jack.. I got it out on my own but I'm not a small guy..

IMO it's worth it. The difference in how the truck ran was night and day.. I've been deleted for about 25k miles now.. I wish I had done it before lifting the truck honestly.

I never will and you will never talk me out of it. This is even more of a reason for me not to own a ford.

Ill stick to my V8s which are tried and true. Nothing beats the sound and feel of the 7.0L in the Vette. No v6 is going to do that.

The Diesel engine is so power and smooth, but you feel it over bumps or braking. It's also weird looking through the rear window and all you see is boat bottom. That was a huge adjustment from the X2.

I'm impressed to see the X5 seemingly handling that boat better than the rear of the Range Rover. Interesting. I had a 2011 X5 (exactly like yours but Grey) but it was a lemon... Thing was in the shop for a month. Piece of junk.

That picture is misleading. The hitch on the X5 was flipped (to add and inch in height) and it was perfect at 20 inches off the ground. The hitch on the Range Rover is not flipped (dropped an inch in height) and it is 19" off the ground. I think it would be better at 20 inches, but if I flip the hitch around it will be too high...

I think I'll keep the factory Rally's.

They are 315/70/17s which work out to be 35.5s. It's on a 4 inch rough country lift with 4.56s. I would bet 35s would hit on full lock with stock suspension. With this gear, tire, and 4L80e 4 speed I spin about 2200 rpm at 70mph towing the 30.

Unless you do a lot of 4wheeling I'd stay with the all terrains. The mud terrains are loud and wear down quickly on the street compared to the alls.

Hey... I've seen you over on that other site! :) Congrats on the new ride! You'll love it!

Pretty much the entire car except for the rear hatch and roof (we did do the A pillars though)... and only bc i didn't want the emblems removed on it. It isn't that susceptible to scratches/dings there and will have opticoat on it anyways.

We got ours at the Cary store. very good, low pressure experience and fast in and out. Only negative was the finance guy trying to shove the ext. warranty down our throats... we declined.

I'd buy from them again.

Wife convinced me to replace my tow rig--true story!

Just picked up the replacement for my beloved '07 2500 Cummins/G56 truck yesterday. Drove down to NC for this new 3500 with the HO 6.7/Aisin trans combo. I'm going to miss the "man pedal" in my '07, but 900 lb/ft of factory warrantied power is helping to ease the pain.

Hope I can get the same 10+ years of service out of this one that I got out of the last. Apparently my wife expects me to sell the old truck, so that's next on the agenda.

Nice, I realized RAM's don't get much notice around the tow threads here, been thinking about a Rebel or Power Wagon myself lately, which is quite a decision for Germany considering we pay roughly twice as much for gas.

Given the fuel cost, that is quite a commitment in Germany.

Do you guys ever see the 3/4 or 1 ton ("heavy duty") diesel pickups over there, regardless of brand?

Yeah it is but I'll only "need" it for towing the boat about 5000 miles a year, everything else can also be done with other cars. And let's face it a any truck no matter which one is not your first choice for curvy roads and Autobahn.

You see the diesels occasionally but if any the RAM1500 Hemi is the most selling Truck in Germany, more then half of them with a Propane refit.

Problem with the HD's is you need a truck license and registration to tow more then about 7716lbs, and that truck registration limits the speed to about 55mph with or without trailer. if you want to go fater the car registration limits the fully loaded weight of the car as well as the trailer to 7716bs each, you see there's no real room for HD trucks here.

I had an H3t that I hade custom built rocker panels that were out of 2 - 2" round tube, powder coated to match the truck. I'll try to find the picture.

I had the alpha V8 5.3 h3t. It's was sweet all blacked out. With black Crome. And AWD which was even sweeter.

One of a kind truck, and then my wife got t-boned in it. She took quite a hit but thank god I had them on the truck. Or it would have been worse.

This was my tow rig before someone t-boned my wife 😡. because he was running late to work. The wife is fine.

It was a very sweet rig with a alpha package. Came with a 5.3 V8 with 300 hp AWD, and 6k tow cap.

It would never lose grip. Even on wet pavement, terrible on gas (13-16mph) and had a 4 speed transmission.

Got the hummer look where ever I went Lol!! That was when gas was 4-5$ a gallon. I too almost bought an SRT however as I only have one vehicle, the ride was too stiff. I was hoping Jeep would fit the computer controlled shocks from the Challenger (or a version of) to make the ride more tolerable but they haven't.

Of course, MN/DOT could just be competent and provide us with decent roads (for what we pay in registration fees) that would work too. But the state is too busy putting in bike lanes and choo choo trains to worry about the roads...

My Dmax hit 6 years old a few days ago so it was time to give her a little update. switched out the stock headlight assemblies for ones almost identical but with the center bar containing LED's. Still trying to figure a way for them to run as my primary DRLS without the low beams still on, but it doesn't seem to be an option with my truck. I have auto headlights and don't want to run the LEDs off the parking lamps like a lot of folks do. Just want everything to stay automatic like it is now.

You'd have to run a separate switch.

Edit: they run such low watts, you can wire it in to anything with 12v with the key on (Make sure to solder the wires).

Glad to see the stroller came in good use! :)

There's complicated ways to do it.. like find the output of the drl relay and tie it into the leds instead of the low beams..

Mine has the 5.0, Fantastic motor, I was also hunting the EB - They make better deals on the 5.0's. I actually like this 5.0 better than my dad's '12 EB. Plus I get the V8 sound my ears like.

I had an 2011 150 with the 5.0, and the refreshed 5.0 is much better along with the 700lbs of weight savings with the new body style.

Dave, I know.. lol. I tried to find an ecoboost, but the trade deal I got for both my jeeps at this dealership couldnt be matched.

It is amazing how quiet it is. Only have put about 1000 miles on it, trying to keep it in the garage with the 3 tons of salt per SF they dump on the roads up in MN. Been driving it now that the salt has mostly washed away from the road. Pulled the boat great, was actually the first thing we towed with the new boat. But overall, love the truck.

Yea I've been eyeing some Force wheels hard.. I gotta finish up my car build first though. One thing at a time. Still need to buy a boat at some point too. That should be happening by next summer though. A couple years ago it was when we buy a house, and I make E6 in the military. Well I bought the house, and I made E6 lol. So now it's when the timing is right I guess.

MC25, Im happy to see someone else living the tint life. My new truck I put double 5% on the back glass over the factory tint, 5% over factory tint on two back windows, 5% on front two windows, and 30% on windscreen. Luckily it just got a crack in it so when I put a new one in it, I'm going 20% on it. I have to say the double 5 might be a tad over the top, might as well paint it.

MC25
03-29-2017, 05:04 PM
I had double 5 on a single cab dodge I had and it was too much since it had no back up camera. I've just got 5 over 20 in the back now.

New to MC, picked up our boat yesterday. 2010 x15. Towed about 100 miles home behind our 2012 Touareg TDI. Pulled like a champ. Unfortunately this car is getting turned back in to VW in June. We love it and will probably try to find another one. Hard to find a good daily SUV that will tow a boat. Don't really want to get a pickup.

Long story behind those. I bought them used off Craigslist mounted on a rotted set of 35s. Dismounted them, found out one of them is bent although repairable. So instead of having to deal with the shame of driving on a spare or driving my girlfriends new highlighter green jeep, I'll just buy the wheels I wanted lol. Pm me if you really want them and I'll cut you a deal.
