Thks Brian T, and Scott I am pretty OCD about my stuff... I always thank its the suttle changes that look the best. I shaved all the emblems off the Sub and then Blacked out all the Chrome. I did the Same for the X Star... I took all the emblems out of X and had them Painted Black... the off season I am doing the Console Gauges. Plus I am tempted to go Naked on the X Star in the offseason.

If I may offer another mod, remove your roof racks unless you absolutely need them. Scroll back a few pages and you can see on my Denali I did that. Looks much sleeker IMHO.

Brian T... looks good I occasionally use mine for Canoe, Snow Ski's, Bike etc... I just dont have the attachments on it everyday... to keep it looking clean, and not Offroad looking... but then again it could be Euro looking that way.

I wanted to put two MC Shields on the side but the wife... XXXX that.

First post, new to me 2001 x star 330 LTR, 700 hours, clean, 750's in the lockers, 300 ski locker, 400 in the walkway, 400 under port seat, 300lbs of lead under bow seats. Tow vehicle 2013 jeep jk unlimited 4 inch lift, 37's, re geared (obviously), winch etc. This pic was taken before my annual trip to long lake in Maine, other then that the boat doesn't get towed. I live on the water in MA so the x-star stays in the water most of the summer.

Great looking set up. That's a crap load of ballast in that Star. What's the wake look like?

MACK0092
08-21-2013, 06:03 PM
I dont have any pictures of the wake with the 750's, it used to have 400's in the rear locker. I had trouble surfing unless there was a lot of people in the boat, so i bought the 750's and now move the 400's around the boat as needed. I'll try and get some pics of the wake next time I'm out.

Nice looking JK. How does it feel towing the 205V w/ the Pentastar and 37's? I'm assuming you're running 4.88's?

MACK0092
08-25-2013, 09:43 PM
Since I live on the water the boat doesn't get towed much, usually only a half mile from my house to the boat launch on my pond. However, this picture was from a recent trip to Maine and I'll tell you what, it was not very fun. I am actually running 4.10's with a 6-speed manual. The jeep has plenty of power to pull the boat but stopping it is another story, if the trailer didn't have the disc brakes I wouldn't have even bothered towing the boat up there. On the highway I stayed right around 60-65 mph and it was pretty manageable. Also on that trip with all the camping gear, my 2 dogs, etc I was definitely over the tow capacity. We are replacing our mini cooper with another SUV soon (LR4, or Grand Cherokee most likely) that will be more up to the task of towing.

My tow rig is a PowerStroke'd 2010 F350. Running a 6" lift, 37's on 22's, H&S tuned and deleted, No Limit intake, and aFe exhaust are the big mods. I'm currently in the market for a CSX265 SS, so my truck is a little overkill for what I'm towing now...

Is that tower cover custom, or did you order it from somewhere? I like it!

bhanson
10-22-2013, 12:06 PM
It is a custom cover. The underside completely unzips from the center and each side has a flap that velcros underneath the horizontal part of the tower. Pockets go over each board rack. Long ago, did one trip without the cover and was rewarded with an hour of cleaning bugs off the speaker cans and tower. Never again ...

Gas mileage towing the boat is only about 13 miles on the highway but not bad considering I have a lead foot.

Not thrilled with how quick they are wearing; I rotate and check balance, alignment regularly, they aren't going to last as long as the stock Wranglers. Not a raving fan other than in the snow.

I agree with Aric. His spray in was a dealer special and folding lawn chairs scratched it.

My dealer does their own bedliners in used trucks but takes new ones to line-x.

If you can afford spray in get either line-x or rhino depending on preference (both have lifetime warranty and massive dealer networks). If not, get a drop in. A crappy spray-in liner will cost you far more to remove when it's ruined than you paid to have it installed in the first place. Kinda like cheap tint jobs that turn purple and bubble.

And btw, the Pentagon contracted Line-x to coat the inside of all their exterior walls to bomb-proof the building.

Big time Ford hater.

So, looking at it, you've insulted or upset people in four different threads (Toyota Tundra thread, HD gas or diesel thread, tow vehicle thread and the winterizing thread, Cuban comment), and you have just 58 posts. You might want to try being less confrontational.

Haha I cant figure out why they're upside down. But, upside down it would still out pull your puny denali;)

Hey now, that's a challenge I'd take, any day. My next door neighbor has an eco boost. Darn nice truck, but the 45 is a way bigger challenge for it then the Denali.

Wow, I seriously got under your skin. You actually did research on me. You keep crapping on Fords and then saying "I'm just joking". Why not just stop "joking" if you know it rubs some of us in the wrong way? Or is it that you really feel that way, and "joking" is your excuse? If you talk bad about Ford I'm gonna say something just like I have in those previous posts, I have the same right to my opinion, and to respond to your opinion as you do to mine. You stop bashing Fords, and I will stop bashing your posts on Fords. I won't apologise for thinking Fords are great vehicles. Smiley faces don't do anything to excuse this.

Ha. I suppose my comments on Ford brought out your uninstigated post on import trucks that upset people? And on Cubans in Florida? I can joke all I want here, and the members that have been around know I'm joking. I'm a GM guy, but I'd hazard to say Ford would be my second choice, so I really have nothing against Ford at all. Perhaps you need to be less sensitive, after all, I assume you have more important things to worry and comment about than what my preference in trucks is.

Actually I don't mind the Toyota and I don't have any issues with any of the trucks. They all have their issues, I just have an opinion on which has the least from experience and research. If I was in the market for a new 1/2 ton truck it would be a tough decision specially with Nissan coming out with 1/2 ton Cummins diesel. With HD trucks it is much easier decision. :)

My friend ordered one that should arrive in February. He said that the engine sounds great! How does it handle in the corners?

JTNG

Yes, the exhaust (engine) sounds mean! Takes a little getting use to all the push button technology, no keys, and pretty much everything is automatic! It has different driving modes that you can put it in from 12" of ground clearance to slamming it to the ground for tack performance. My opinion is that is handles every bit as good as my wifes 2006 911S, I know that it is quick and very responsive. The specs say it pumps out 502 horses.

Looks like 4000# for the FWD and 5000# for the AWD. Volvo does not change it;s tow ratings based on engine size.

Air compressor, table saw, belt sander, nail gun, drill, deck screws, dozen sheets of cdx, dozen 2x4x12 treated, some shingles, cooler, 48 pbr tallboys, jerky, torch, solder, flux, 10 sticks 1/2 copper, 2 slabs of granite, a bottle opener and some nail clippers. Should be fine, right?

my new tow rig: 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 5.3L with 3.42 rear. Pulls the X2 with ease. The new 5.3 is muuuch improved. So far I am averaging 17 mpg over 1400 miles with 90% city driving.
