Bought a new tow rig last week. Haven't exactly picked it up yet, getting some goodies installed on it before pick up. I'll get before and after pics up, as well as a piuck with the 45 first time its behind the rig. Should match perfectly.

Nice looking truck Scott!

Nice looking ride, Scott!!! Looking forward to seeing the updated pics with the new goodies installed. You will like towing with the 6.2L. :)

Amazing how the 30 just dwarfs my Tundra. The truck has a 3in lift and 35s just for perspective.

Did you use the spray plastic dip? Can you use a paint brush on the plastic dip cans?

My tundra wheels were originally plastidipped. It holds up very well and is very forgiving. I would just use the aerosol and not bother with the liquid stuff. Home Depot sells it.

You heard right, which is why I went with a triple axle trailer. I have all kinds of power because its a Roush Phase II (590hp), however, the rear suspension is pretty washy for towing. I can say, the triple axle trailer helps a lot! It tows this trailer/boat combo very nicely.

Would investing in a set Firestone air bags help stiffin things up? I bought a set for my ram. The manual inflate ones w/o the compressor. They work great and keep the truck from sagging when loaded down.

They wont work on a Raptor because it has 17 inches of rear suspension travel. Those airbags can only deal with about 10 inches or less....

I've been trying to talk myself into a newer Sierra Denali because I'd really like a crew cab now that my kids are getting older. I've got an '03 and I just don't want to give up the quadra steer. I just can't believe how much more a new one costs now than it did in 2003. Love your truck-I'd be sticking with black myself. What color interior did you go with?

We use a couple different vehicles - one is a 2012 Sierra Denali AWD to pull our X55 - Does a great job pulling 7k-7.5k pounds of boat. Very happy with it as a tow vehicle. Never had a quadra-steer denali, but the turn radius on mine isn't bad for the crew cab short box school bus that it is. Often thought about painting it bright yellow and putting some flashers on.

Nothin fancy - '07 4Runner sport edition with a 4.0L V6. But with this light of a boat (2700# 20' Maristar) I can tow at 65mph, with the cargo area packed to the ceiling, the A/C on full blast, and 5 passengers in the car and still get 17-18 mpg.

My 98 with my 2012 Ram Big Horn

Just north of Tommy on HWY A before "8". We borrow my folks cabin once or twice a year just north of 8 on Deer Lake Road. Typically June and August. This year July (We have an ol' 1978 Green over green S&S; but it doesnt sit sit in the water...)

Been going up to Tommy since I was born (folks have been going since their first anniversary! - almost 50 years ago). We used to stay at a place called the "Brundles" on Peaceful Valley Road on Mohocsin - pardon spelling - (West of town on CC) until they sold and my folks got their own place.

I know that spot too. Small world indeed.

Lake Mohawksin is created by the dam just south of Tomahawk (Hwy 86 by the Paper Mill) on the Wisconsin river that backs up water from the Somo, Tomahawk and Wisconsin rivers.

Question out there for anyone towing with the Audi Q7/ VW Toureg TDI. Thinking of ordering mine with the air leveling suspension, is it worth the price to get the option? I usually tow through the mountains once a year. Any options I should add or delete?

Finally picked up the new X10 on the weekend. Put the full 10hrs on her and got it back to the dealer for the break-in oil change. We'll be back on the water with it very shortly! This is just before I dropped it back to the dealer - more pics to come.

That 6.2L in the X10 is a complete animal. Big adjustment for the drivers coming from our previous 115hp outboard.

Very nice! Post up some pictures of it with the new shoes. I see you ordered it with the 4" OD tailpipe. I have a Yukon Denali witht he same option. I took it to a muffler shop yesterday because I wanted to get dual exhaust from the muffler back, they tell me it will be tough because the 6.2L came from the factory with 3.5" pipe and the muffler shop guy tells me that that diameter of pipe is tough to bend. He said he could go max 3" but I really don't want to go with a smaller diameter pipe. I have a K&N cold air intake so I'd like to keep the exhaust as big as possible. Anyone have any suggestions?

If you want to keep the factory muffler then what about going with the 3" duals from the muffler and adding a 3.5" or 4" tips to keep your stock appearance? Dual 3" will be way more than you need from a performance standpoint. Otherwise I would research aftermarket dual exit cat back systems.

No, I went with 22's. Putting Hankook R11 snow/ice tires on the factory rims. The 22's will run Falken STZ 05.

It'll be fine in the winter, it's still way higher than my car, and I've never had issues with it.:D

Sean at Integra Tire in Red Deer. He's a GM performance tech, and he builds things like this as if its his own vehicle. The custom welds for the air bags are mint. if you want something cool and unique done, give him a call.

here's a shot of my FZJ80 pulling my X30. my wife's car is a much better tow rig so i only use the LC for short runs. the nice thing about the LC is i have it wired so i can engage low range and leave all the diffs open. it comes in handy since my driveway is pretty steep and fallen debris can make it slippery.

Good eye.
Because they fit the +25 minimum offset I needed and they look good.:D They were on the short list along with some NNBS Chevy 18s and 20s and these popped up in my price range first. Plus they're all aluminum where most of the new Chevy wheels are plastic cladding.

Well they do look good on your truck, unfortunately nissan has also went with the cladding wheels on certain models. My sister just bought a new limited ford escape and my bil about had a fit after the sale when he actually tapped on wheels and found out they are plastic hubcaps glued on.

Yeah it's an industry-wide epidemic. My custom shop is owned by a Dodge dealer and theirs are plastic now too. Some brands are even steelies underneath instead of aluminum. Sad when they start to rust on the exposed edges. The plastic is bonded on with some adhesive expanding foam type stuff so you destroy the plastic taking it off to sandblast and repaint. $650-1000 apiece for replacements.

To something a lot better! Still has room for all the kids, 7.5k tow capacity, V8 power, AWD, rearview camera (!) and every electronic and convenience upgrade imaginable. Plus, got to justify it as a present to my wife for our 25th Anniversary, since it's her daily driver:

We don't have 450 in Belgium, And with expensive I mean also road taxes I think if its a 4.5 L engine around 2500 euros a year :s.

Is it a Diesel or gasoline?

Ahh, now I understand. We don't pay any direct road taxes but our fuel consumption is taxed. Still, a LOT less expensive than in Europe (based on my travel in Germany). Mine is a gasoline version. I would have liked the Diesel but they are not nearly as common on the used vehicle market and command a higher cost.

First run to the lake today with the new tow rig--incredible difference in handling, acceleration, cruising, and stopping. Fully loaded with 7 pax, all the boat gear, etc. and 75 MPH up and down the hills was no drama. On the 60 mile round-trip we got 12 mpg (about what we got pulling with the minivan). BONUS--didn't half the put the back end of vehicle halfway in the water to launch, like we used to with the van.

Side note--never been on a single ski or wakeboard until today. Using a boom, got up first time on both. Really helps build confidence and learn what it should feel like. Going to try deep water starts tomorrow on both--should be good for a few laughs at my expense. Boom is a great learning tool!

I had a pair of coopers once, didn't last long and sucked all around. Mileage was a little better with them though.

I have the graplers now with about 30k miles on them and them look and ride great still. They suck in the rain, very slick but over all I like them.

My brood has outgrown my X5 and I'm looking at new tow options. We'll need a functional 3rd row and was hoping to not have to go all the way up to a Expedition/Tahoe type vehicle.
Anyone towed with a Ford Flex?

Up I-75 south, Jelico Mountain pass at 65 mph running at 2500 RPM good enough:D

Compare Dodge 1500 at 3500 RPM lucky to get up to 60 MPH

I don't know the grade but it pretty much straight up hill about 5 miles, passing trucks doing about 35-45 with their flashers on lol

Also, pulled up this same hill with a rented 2500 gaser and it was running at 3500 to 4000 up this same hill when my 1st Toaureg was totaled. I also get 14 mpg towing and 29 all around mileage vs 8-12 in a gaser.

Trips to Norris run 78 down hill in 8th, drop to 7th up the hills at 70, running between 2000 and 2500 rpm respectively.

My Dodge pulled my X1 up Jelico way better than that. I was doing 70 the whole time. I cant remember the exact RPM's, but the truck wasn't struggling and I got 12 MPG for the trip.

Have a Benz GL450 and pull through some pertty decent hills here in the Carolina Piedmont ("foothills" in French). May be a "grocery getter" but plenty of grunt, real space for 7 pax, and an awesome ride quality as well as plenty of interior amenities and some kickazz engineering.

Just took ownership of a 2013 Nissan Xterra Pro-4X this weekend, which will replace my Honda Pilot as the tow vehicle. The Pilot did fine, although it sometimes felt like it was right at the edge of its towing capacity (which, frankly, it was.) The Xterra is only rated for 500lbs more than the Pilot, but it already feels like a huskier, more capable towing vehicle.

I know I need to get pics posted, after all, that's the name of this thread. I'll get some pics taken this weekend, once the hitch is installed and I have a chance to pull the X-10 a bit.

I did want to share the news of the new purchase however. So far, the Xterra seems quite capable. If there are any other Xterra owners who have experiences to share, that would also be appreciated.
