I am looking to get a new or new to me v-drive wakeboard boat. I am looking for somthing with alot of room, I can't give in to the calls for "that comfy pontoon boat". We have a place on a chain of lakes, so I am successfully convinced the wife that we need a boat that can get us home in a hurry if need be. So my question is this.

What kind of speed is reasonable from say an X-15, I have heard high 30's but I am really looking to get into the 40's or even the 50's. My buddy likes to step off for foot'n at 42.

I realize these boats are not made for high speed, but does anyone know of a solution? I would love to stay with MC but I guess I would entertain any options.

You should be able to hit low to mid 40's with the correct prop. The standard prop will increase the low end tourque but limit top speed. It seems to me that an X-15 with the RTP 310 hp engine hit 40, but its been a long winter.

How 'bout a Barefoot 200 with a tower. That'll outrun just about everything with "MasterCraft" written on it.

My 06 X-Star tops out at 40 with the stock prop and the MCX. Which has the same guts as the X-30 I think.

The Barefoot 200s will run to about 60.

My Barefoot 200 tops out at just over 60mph. It is a blast to drive!! I can outrun just about any inboard from 0-40mph too!!

Wow, 60!!! I may check one of those out. I also saw a early 80's with a big block. No response on how fast it will pull at though.

thanks for all the info, keep it com'n

My 06 X-30 with stock prop and MXC has hit 45 with 2 people on good water. Normally with 6 people or so it tops right at 40. I am sure with a prop change you could get it in the high 40's if you wanted to give up a little bottom end.

My PS 209 will run between 45-46 with the 310 HP engine. Not a V drive, but still plenty of room

Not sure where you are located, but if you are in the area of Chicago MasterCraft, I'd be happy to take you out on any of the new MasterCraft's so that you could drive them and check out the top end.

We are located in Volo, IL just south of Fox Lake.

Close to the same here 06 X-30 stock prop MCX , 49 mph best on smooth water 2 ppl average 40-45 top end with load of ppl and stuff. Cooler weight is a big killer I think:D

My '05 X-Star with the stock prop and LQ9 (385 HP) will hit 47mph. My previous boat, a 2002 X-10 with the 330HP LTR would hit 45mph. You can easily get into the low 40s with any Mastercraft...after that you would need to change the prop.

We have an '06 X-10 we have no problems hitting mid 40's with stock prop and the MCX and a boat full of gear and people. If you want or need anything faster you may have to look at another brand. Other than the BF200 I'm not sure you're going to get too much faster. You can foot behind a loaded XStar just ask Footin or Erk they've done it. They go fast enough!! I've pulled long line footers behind the X10 without any complaints.

I have a X-15 and we have the MCX 350HP. We have hit 48-50MPH at times but with lots of low end torque. For our needs it's fast enough. Very roomy and tons of storage.

My 197 with the LQ9 will run 52.2 with just me in it. Kind of sucks when you get a bunch of people in it though, with 4 people I can only hit 51.8:rolleyes:

I dont think the Barefoot 200 is going to satisfy your room requirement.

barefoot 200 or powerstar 200 both push 60 with ease,, and have tons of room ,, with a tower, a fat sac or two and some trim the wakeboarding it pretty damn good,, i ski and have yet to limit myself with either of these boats ,, maybe not a course boat but good for most folks,, barefoots are in the 10k range and powerstars are 20k but hard to find,,

I was told the x-15 i ordered would reach 42-43 with the mcx and standard prop. Our glastron 4 cylynder would barely hit 40 on a good day. Most times 37 not that we wanted all out in that boat with any amount of chop. 135 hp to 350 hp and 5 miles an hour more. I was actually more concerned on how slow I could go on plane and how fast I could go before plowing to get on plane

boatdad,
Do you have the attitude plate and if so did you have it deployed. As we are waiting for ice out, I am itching to see how it actually does. 48 - 50 is faster than I had expected. Was it glass?

Ahhhhh, that sounds NICE! I can't think of a single reason why I need 50+, we're on a small lake. But I like it. Getting up to 47.something on the Predator with my rig. #47, do you have a particularly healthy LQ9 on your hands, or is that typical? I haven't heard anyone say they expect a new 197 to crack 50 with the LY6, have they?

Sorry for threadjack...

Hey Eyeball Jerry, cool username. What's the story behind it?

erk, A delicate question but asked without malice,
How do you deal with demonstrating top end when break in hasn't occured? Do you have demos that you sell at the end of the year. I know I was concerned when I was demoed a boat that had never been on the water and they tried to max it out within minutes

Hey I have the same question for the x2 310 vs 350. I am a barefooter and surfer/wakeboarder and the x2 03-05 is the only mastercraft that will fit on my private lake restrictions. Will the 310 hit mid 40s? or do I have to get the 350 to do that?
thanks

Cept the barefoot 200's are outboards so they're not going to be comfy quiet day cruisers like the X-15 etc. etc.
