Sony Corp on Wednesday unveiled its new thin organic electroluminescence (EL) TV displays at Finetech Japan Flatpanel Display Exhibition in Tokyo. The prototype introduces thin panels less than 10mm for the first time in Japan. The 27-inch model is less than 10mm thick and the 11-inch model is about 3mm (0.12 inches) thick.

From what the artical said, they are only selling the 11 in to start. It is just in time for me to buy a plasma. My big screen is on its last legs:(

This has been talked about for a couple of years and it'll be a while before it really gets going. They would be shooting themselves in the foot if they roll it out in a big way but since Sony hasn't been making their own large plasma sets for the last few years anyway, they won't be out much in manufacturing costs. Not like they put all of their money into a plasma facility.
