View Full Version : 1999 PS205 Engine?

I recently purchased a 1999 PS205 and am confused as to which engine it has. The flame arrestor cover says 5.7 Plus MX, which I thought had a distributorless ignition and puts out 330 hp, but the engine does in fact have a distributor. Does that mean it is the 310 hp version? Maybe I'm just confused or there has been an engine swap.

You have the 310 hp version; LTR was the 330 hp version that year.

Throttle body injected Chevy 350 Vortec engine. 310 hp. And loads of torque. Great engine. I've taken many a pull behind the 308 hp version offered in 98.

Hope and pray it's the 310hp. I have had 2 of em and they are the way to go. More torque than the LTR(330hp) and simplier design=less trouble.

Matted- call MC and let them check your hull number to see what it was built with. The TBI is a good motor with a bit of a bump in the torque curve at lower RPMs but the LTR is definitely a good motor. Not a stump-puller but a very good motor. There are a few differences (crank sensor and coil packs instead of distributor) and intake manifold (with the associated part differences) but the block is basically the same. Same TPS, MAP sensor, IAC, ECM- same basic setup as far as most of it, for that matter. I saw a hot start issue on one early 2000 model that was due to Rochester not telling anyone that they omitted the hole in the throttle plate, which was a 5 minute fix, by recalibrating the ECM.

Besides, if it has a cover on the flame arrestor, it's not the LTR.
