Looking at putting some ballast in the bow underneath the cushions.
either two flyhigh "side sacks" or the flyhigh "integrated bow sack".
anyone have experience with either?

Currently run the integrated sac in the bow.

Integrated sac will get MAYBE 50% full. I use it and 120lbs of lead. IMO, it still needs more weight up there.

Ran 2 side sacs under former X10 bow.

Check link in my signature for more info.

Paul's original integrated bow sac install inspired me to do the same. Once the sac was installed, I tied it into the vent line of the ski locker sac, to fill it. I'm guessing the sac gives me about 200 to 250# or so, when filled, but I could be wrong.

Good luck.

Is there a specific reason for ballast in the bow?

to counter the weight in the back of the boat....too much weight in the back means the boat has trouble planing out....or it porpoises (bounces up and down once it has planed off)

P-hat...yeah i've checked out your install a couple of times, nicely done! I currently have 400 on each side of the engine, 600 in the ski locker, and about 100 in lead up front. did i read that you only fill the rear bags to about 50%??? i am thinking about upgrading to the 750's, but can you even fill them all the way?

Just curious, how do squeeze 600 in the locker? I have a 99 with the same locker dimensions, and my understanding is I can only get about 400 (water ballast) in there.

Does your boat have the KGB center ballast? where exactly is that? I am right in the middle of a painfully slow ballast system install. I am only doing a locker bag up front, but will add up to 320 in lead to balance it out.

I have an '02 xstar with the 750's in the back and yes, they can be filled all the way. Fills up every inch of locker space.

Just as '02x...said, you can fill them up, but I don't. It throws the balance way out of whack for my setup. You'd have to be able to balance out that 1500lbs of ballast (+ engine weight) up front...which I can't right now.

A (approaching) full 750 comes into play when setting up for surfing in my application.

I would suggest bracing your engine divider walls if you are running big ballast back there. It's really quick and simple to do. There's a link to how I did it in my signature page.

alright i guess there was a little confusion between me and the previous owner. the center ballast is the factory ballast for 2000 xstar...anyone know how much that holds? he was thinking around 400? and the rear bags are the FlyHigh FatSacs #W607....anyone know what these would be? i tried googeling it but had no luck. thanks.

FLY HIGH sac listing and site info (http://fatsac.com/FlyHigh/FlyHighSacs.html#1)

W607 is not listed, but W507 and W707 are.

Give them a call/email and find out.

Jay, your rear sacs pre date the Pro X bags. Fat Sacs were originally 550-600 lbs when full. Your boat doesnt have the hard tank mounted on the side so filling the sacs completly is possible. I have another buddy with the same boat as you and we put the 600 lb bags in his.
