Just use normal ATF in a velvet drive 1:1?

Dexron III or Mercon will be fine.

Yup, Dexron/Mercon will work. Any name brand should be fine, I prefer Valvoline.

Thats what it says to use in my 04 powerslot, there is a big sticker on the side of my transmission. I just changed my and use Amsoil 15W-40 and have put about 40 Hrs on it everthings working great.

I believe the reason they switched to 15W40 in the powerslots and vdrives in the newer boats was to deal with some transmission noise about which people were complaining. Before that, IIRC, they were recommending transmission fluid.

If you've been using transmission fluid up to this point with no noise, I see no reason to switch. But that might be worth a call to your local dealer.

So you're saying to use the Type 3 transmission fluid? I wish I knew what the previous owner had used...

is this boat new to you? Was the fluid red or gold when you bought the boat?

red = tranny fluid
gold = oil

yeah, the boat is new to me, had it for a couple months... it's been running fine, but since I don't know the history, I feel like I should go ahead and change the tranny fluid.
When I bought the boat, I didn't see the tranny fluid...the guy told me it always shows none..*** was I thinking.. but now I know to check it right after shutting it off

edit* I bought the type IV ATF fluid--that's what the dealer told me to get. So I'm gonna suck out all the existing stuff and put in this.
