I really like the looks of that boat, expecially with Mastercraft on the side instead of those goofy arrows.

got to see the x14 in the water this weekend, blue metalflake with white looks awesome. They also took their x80 out yesterday, that thing is huge.

The X14 looks best in red in then those arrows in white it is an awesome boat i wakeboarded behind it the other day. The 07 towers are sweet with those mastercraft plates on the side. The boat is pretty wide bc of the rap around seating with the d drive all around a great boat. Not the BEST for skiing or wakeboarding but it is a good crossover boat. Just like its cuzin the X9

My local dealer just sold one and the customer requested that the "arrows" be taken off, and the boat looked great. My point being, if you like the boat, don't let the graphics turn you off, there are always options.

Those are the '07 graphics anyway. From what I understand the '08 graphics will not contain those arrows.

i picked up my new X14 on Memorial day, have about 40 hours already .... awesome boat. I put in the MCX with a PowerSlot and has great hole shot (13x12 prop) ... my favorite MC so far (X7 and X9 previously). Really impressed with the slalom wake, especially at short lengths. Pulled me (205 lbs) and my 280 lbs buddy 40 mph this weekend. This is a great boat.

I'd read postings here re: the X9 - not the best for slalom, is the X14 substantially better than the X9 for a slalom wake?

OhioX14

I currently own an '06 X9 and have an X14 on order. The decision to make the change was based solely on the slalom wake which is significantly better with the X14. Just to make sure it was as good as advertised I skied back to back behind a 197 and the X14 and the X14 is VERY close to the 197 and night and day better than our X9.

I do understand the wake decisions but what about space for skis boards ropes and soap (don't forget 303, swallows can be a pain)

2RLAKE

The X14 doesn't have tons of storage. There is a small storage in the back for soap, and then behind the driver and under the observer seat in the X14. The 214 will have a ski locker in the floor and more storage under the rear seats. We keep a pretty tidy boat so it all fits for us, and we have a dock. Folks taking weekend trips will feel cramped if they are pack rats. Unfortunately there is not a built in cooler.

OhioX14

The storage thing was initially a deal breaker for us as we, like many, store our slalom skis under the gunwale on the side, and kneeboards, wakeskate, one of three wakeboards, and wet vests behind the drivers seat. We have a dock but it's not on our property so it doesn't really add storage possibilities.

The bottom line for us was the wake so we're going to figure out the storage. The locker behind the drivers seat will replace what we used the rear locker for, we'll put the slalom skis under the observers seat, the boards on the racks while under way (on the floor when the cover is on), and the kneeboards (2) on their sides on the port side. There will also be less unnecessary "stuff" on board and we'll make better use of the storage under the bow cushions.

The point behind this is not to bore everyone with our plans, but to point out that in our case (and many others I suspect) wake was the most important factor and there are ways to deal with the storage.

FWIW :D :D

That is my big concern with the 214(X14) ... where do I put the kneeboards? Stupid question ... do they make a rack so you could put them on the tower or would that be way too big for the tower? We have to carry everything with us for the day and during mid-day the kids love to kneeboard.

Any options?

We had a PS 190 LT1 "97" with Power slot, and then a PS 209 1:1 MCX. We now have found the best of both worlds with our new X-14. Storage is questionable, though it just keeps the junk out. Slalom wake is great and though I only ham and egg the wakeboard the wake is great I am told by my buddies who only wakeboard.

Definetly get the best of both boats. Hole shot, Wake all the way around and spacious for the family.

Depending on the kneeboard there is a chance you could get them into a slalom ski rack (you can choose whether you want slalom racks, wakeboard racks, or one of each) but I've found with ours that the pad gets in the way of proper clamping. They're also heavy enough and enough of a wing hanging out there to make me nervous enough to not chance it. We carry two and feel there's enough room in the walk through on the port side to stand them up without getting in the way.

Combo ski/ wakeboard rack works well...I am attaching a snap of the boat with the tower (and Prostar graphics which I ordered). The ride on chop is outstanding and the wake is excellent for both my wakeboarder (son) and me dad on skis. My second Mastercraft only - but I can't imagine a nicer 'all around' sport boat - satisfies both the Mastercraft purists and family boat type I would think.

kneeboards can fit under the observer seat, or on the wakeboard racks with the slalom ski extensions

FYI only, we own 2 Obrien Airageous Kneeboards and I specifically took them to our dealer to see if they fit under the observer seat and they do not. Part of the problem is that the battery is now in a box mounted to the floor rather than recessed into the floor like other models. I'm hoping they go back to doing this in '08 otherwise I may be looking to move it.

I am taking them to my dealing on Friday to see how I can make them fit. I know it sounds weird but this is the deciding factor on if I buy a new boat.

On another note on the X14 - what is that metal beam in the bow storage area? The carpet job on the one I am looking at was a little off and it exposed a metal beam running accross the boat. Looked like a support but I thought that would be under the deck. Just a question ... anyone noticed this?

Please let me know if they fit, and if they do, what brand/model kneeboard you have as I would love to get ours under the seat.

I did not noticed a beam when I checked out an X14 but I would also like to hear if anyone knows what this is for and why it's not under the deck.

That is if you could get a new 209 since that's a discontinued model. If you don't need the tower, ballast, etc. then look at a 214.

My dealer still has a brand new 2006 209. The only thing that keep me away from it is the color (yellow).

Looking for some advice, please, before I buy our next boat. We will have to buy used, but there is often a decent selection here, in Florida.

What's the difference between the 214 and the X-14?
Are the slalom wakes identical? We'd mainly be using the boat for slalom skiing, secondarily for lounging with friends for a sunset cocktail. Thirdly, for an occasional wakeboard pull.

We live on a 3 mile x 5 mile lake in Florida. We are mainly slalom skiers, and I weigh 215 pounds, so I need a motor/trans that will pull me up. Any recommendations on that?

We would wakeboard occasionally, and also like to take people on sunset tours around the lake to see the wildlife. If the wind blows up when we're on the other side of the lake, we'd like to make it through the chop without too much jarring.

I don't have the $$ to buy a new boat; will be looking for a used one. I am thinking a 214 or an X14, but maybe even a 205. What would you recommend? Thanks for your opinions!
