Where does everyone put their iPod while in the boat? I am not sure were the jack will be on my 197, but I was still thinking I should get a case like this to protect from splashes and waterdrips. Anyone have any advice?

I put mine in the cup holder below the throttle, with my cell phone.
I was thinking of putting some kind of suction cup mounting system on the side window.

Where is the unit in a 197? I is not in a glove compartment type box? I thought on the new CMD you can control the ipod from the keypad? Would you not just plug it in and throw it in the glove box? Then you control it form the keypad?

I eventually plan to add the module, when I add a sub and additional speakers, but I do not want to spend anymore $$$$ on it for a year or two. Right now, I think I am just going to use the stock mp3 Jack that I beleive is located near the throttle, but I am not entirely certain.

Will the head unit play mp3s off of a CD?

Sodar - You are right. The MP3 jack is below the throttle, basically beside the 12 volt outlet.

Congrats on the boat.

Here's what I use for my Ipod, you can still use it while it's in the case and it's waterproof.

I don't want to spend any money of accessories for my iPod 60 gig. I've got my eye on an iPod Touch...

I'm holding out for the next version, hopefully it will have a camera and blue tooth, then you can get a head unit with bt and wirelessly play your music.

Mine is under the throttle and I hang the cord around one of the ballast switches. Leave enough slack to either set in the drivers cup holder or in between my XM Sat and base.
However, it would be nice to have the system in line with the remote.
I am pretty happy with mine, because when my daughter and friends show up they all have their IPODs and are pretty active in changing out .

I found this product which looks pretty cool. You can then keep your Ipod in the glovebox. You can even replace a gauge with the lcd screen and have full control over satellite radio, phone, Ipod, and radio at your fingertips. I think this would be a great option to have on future Mastercraft's. I have these options in my car and house why not the boat at your fingertips....... I think I will be installing this in the future, the drive + play 2.

Currently Ipod is in cup holder under throttle.

Get an Otterbox case. Its a fully funtional waterproof case for your ipod. If you order through West marine its like $40-50. I actually leave mine in it all the time for protection. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I am the factory represenative for Pelican Products for the rocky mountian region. We have two different cases that are completly waterproof and especially designed for the ipods. They feature a one way valve to release air from whin the case but it will not allow moisture in. You also connect a small cord into the head phone outlet before you close the lid so that you can plug your head phones into the auxilarry jack on the outside. These cases are awesome!! I have several testimonials of them falling over board and so on and the ipod having zero negitive effects. If you wan to know more shoot me a PM!
