I am kind of new to this website. Had a few ski boats but went back to the basics with this one. 351 PCM with the powerslot. My brother has an 85 S&S. I grew up skiing the course but it's sad to say it's kinda a dying sport. This is an awesome ski boat though!! Let me know what you think.

Thanks guys. I had a couple of the newer Bu's and even a LaPoint but none of them clicked with me. I like this boat because even though it is a little older it has style and anybody that knows anything about ski boats appreciates these kinds of boats. Not to mention it sounds like a real boat. None of that silent rider stuff!!

I have always liked the 86'! Nice ride and for a MasterCraft somewhat rare to see!:D

I'm partial to the Stars & Stripes, but we basically have the same boat. I love mine. Drives like a dream, and actually the wake isn't much worse than the recent boats except for the rooster tail.

Welcome and nice ride! I like that year and those colors, classic!

Talk to others on here about changing your prop to unleash all the power from that boat. Less vibration too.

Thanks guys. I like it a lot. Tex I am in Mckinney 40 minutes north of Dallas. I already tore apart the engine and replaced some gaskets, sandblasted and painted the exhaust manifolds and painted the engine PCM silver. It looks great now.

Great job on the engine..........What about the alternator?

The alternator is original and it still works so I figured I would leave it for now. I upgraded the ignition to pointless and put new wires, plugs, cap and rotor. The only thing I am not happy with is the pylon. I am tempted to pull it out and get it polished or re powder coated.

I have the same issue. The pylon is peeling a little bit, but mainly where the rope attaches, and a few other chips. Not sure what it's made of, but it has never rusted. Is it aluminum?

Trivia question on the '86? On that hull wasn't the slot on the hull removed? Wasn't this required for prop-hull clearance if running the 14 inch prop? But you have the powerslot transmission, did they increase the angle of the drive line to accomodate this? Just curious.

I thought all the hulls with the powerslot were slotted in the early 80? I might be mistaken but I thought they were. Anybody know?

Very nice looking original motor, hoses, belts, everything looks great man, what kind of transmission is that? My Velvet Drive looks a lot different. Some red plug wires would really look sharp...Someone made the comment about your alternator...mine finally went last year, like you said, wait till it finally goes.
I also have an original "PleasureCraft" decal for the solenoid cover in the back, your cover is black, mine is grey, If you want it I will send it to you but it would not show up on your balck cover....nice job:cool:

It is a Velvet Drive Powerslot 1:1.5 Thanks for the offer on the sticker. My cover has PCM molded into it you just can't see it in the pic. I am all about trying to keep it looking original. In my opinion it gives it more class when you open up the engine box and see a nice clean engine that looked like it did the day it was new. I just ordered a bimini top to match.
