I actually liked the picklefork when i first saw it on the x-star, which is kind of unusual for me to like change. I didn't like the way the Epics looked with the smashed bow, but I have grown to like it as well. Point being, I think it just takes time to get used to looking at something new.

kkkkPerformance, Handling, Etc. Still The Same? Which Model Do You Have?

The hull is still the normal V hull, it just transitions to the picklefork design towards the top of the hull. The performance and handling of the picklefork is not affected by the new design. k

I did not like the look at first either but it has grown on me. I have not been in one yet, but the room up there is awesome. Two people in my boat up front comfortably is about it. Soon as that lotto hits X-45 for me babe. 8p 8p

When I look at those boats I don't think "picklefork", I think "tri-hull". Cleaver marketing, hey?

I took the same, not sure I like it, but now looks good and ever so functional. Only a question of time before all boats are "pickled"!!

I have heard MC came out with the ‘Pickle Fork’ to differentiate is boats from competitors. Now that other manufactures have followed MC, with the fork fronts and graphics. I am curious if the new 08 X-Star will continue to have it? I am glad the 214 was sparred.

To me it really doesn't look like a boat, but theres quite a bit more room, I hope I don't have to see a Direct Drive with a picklefork front.

As to where the "picklefork" moniker originated, I assume it has to do with the origin of the design. As most of you know, MasterCraft did not invent this (despite the accusations of other boat manufacturers "copying" MasterCraft that can bee seen here from time to time). A lot of the earlier forked nose race boats were tunnel hulls. Thus, the forks fed into the hulls and the whole thing looked like a couple of sliced pickles.

Even though 3-point top fuel hydros are a pickle fork bow it is not a mono-hull like an X-star.

So my question is what boat mfg. was first to introduce the mono hull pickle fork?

I don't think a tri-hull would count because the chines run the entire length of the hull.

Kind of like asking what was the first boy dog with teets.

Squared off Triloboats have been around about as long as photography. So who first gave it nonfunctional nipples? If it was MC, I'm not sure how much pride value it holds. In other words, there may be a reason none of the other Triloboats went there for the preceding hundred years.

The side cut of this boat looks very similar to the side cut of a modern X-boat to me.
