We have a 2006 X-15. We love the boat but my wife hates the wake for sking. Will the addition of this adjustment plate really help? The dealer wants $1600.00 to add this to the boat.

I have a new 07 X-2 with the attitude adj plate. I have not skied behind it yet, but can definitely see a difference in the wake depending on the position of the plate. It also noticeably lowers the bow of the boat at slower speeds. My wife and I grew up slalom skiing and are novice boarders (bought the X-2 for larger size inside and better rough water performance now that we have 2 small kids), so the plate was a no brainer for us.

I havent skied with the plate on an X-15 or the X-2 yet but it makes a radical difference on an X-30. I've actually had a customer tell me that a his new X-30 with the plate skied better than his old X-10. I've also never skied behind an X-10 so you have to take his word for it.

The plate is also very nice for teaching kids. I find that slow speeds cause the wake to get very crumbly and washed out. Pushing the bow down with the plate helps clean it up alot.

1600 seems a bit high as the added cost is ~ 1000 when ordering factory installed.

Hmmm...we waterski every Thursday morning using either my '04 230VRS or my buddy's '04 X-10 and we all pretty much agree that the wake from my 230 is marginally better than the X-10's. No wake plates.

There have been a few threads here on user-installed wake plates on MasterCrafts, using either Bennet system or MasterCraft (Lenco) OEM plate installed aftermarket. The consensus is pretty clearly that it they help a variety of wake and/or handling issues.

From what I gather from this the 230/X30 is a fantastic platform. ;)

I don't care at all about doing anything to make my boat a better ski boat - certainly not $1000-worth .... but I do think a MasterCraft wake plate would be a cool project just for a project's sake.
