Loose Carpet

I have an area of carpet that has come loose. It is in between the motor box and the side gunnel. I think I will have to take the side panel off and cut the carpet under the side panel to access the effected area since the carpet seems to be one piece up the side of the boat.
My question is what kind of glue would work best? I was going to use 3M general trin adhesive but someone told me that will not work.
Would indoor/outdoor carpet glue hold up to this high traffic area?

I have the same problem on my '91. My biggest fear was using something too strong that wouldn't allow me to remove the carpet if I ever needed to.
