Rotella T Diesel oil. Meets Indmars standards.

The brand doesn't matter - they're all the same. Only difference between the major brands is the marketing competence of one oil company vs another.

The only thing that matters is whether or not the oil you're using meets the API service classification specs recommended by Indmar (CI-4 and SL on current models, and IIRC it's what Indmar now recommends for every engine they ever built).

I go by the sticker on the filler cap. I think it is Pennzoil 5w30.

I go by the sticker on the filler cap. I think it is Pennzoil 5w30.Indmar recommends the 15w40 commercial diesel oils for your LTR engine. There aren't any 5w30's that are recommended for use in Indmar 350-based engines.

Bigmac; True, I don't remember seeing the diesel part before though? How did you know that?

The API classification CG-4 (currently CI-4) is a diesel-only spec. SJ (currently SL) is generally for passenger cars. So...these oils are spec'd for both. I've heard that the "C" stands for Commercial, but I was told recently that it stands for "Compression" while the "S" stands for "Spark". I don't know. Those Cx-4 specs are submitted to the API by a consortium of the big diesel mfgrs like Caterpillar for their warranty requirements. Sx specs are submitted by a similar consortium of auto manufacturers.

Anyway, almost all of those "C" oils are 15w40.

Indmar, within the last few years, has gone to recommending CI-4/SL oil for every engine they ever made - at least, I read that on their old website before they redid it a few months ago.

Here is the information from the current Indmar Operator's Manual. I know it is correct ... I wrote it!

Engne Nut

Indmar uses and recommends Pennzoil Marine 15W40 in
all 5.7L, 6.0L and 6.2L engines and Pennzoil Marine 40W
in all 7.4L, 8.1L and 8.2L engines. This oil meets the API
Service CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, CF-4, and CF/SL. If the engine
is to be used in conditions below 20 F (-7 C), use
Pennzoil 10W30 meeting the above API specifications.

Synthetic oil that meets our viscosity requirements and
API SL/SJ/CI-4, CH-4, CG-4 is acceptable to use after
100 hours of operation with the recommended oil. The use
of synthetic oil does not change the requirement of 50
hour (25 hour in severe conditions) oil change intervals.

Mobil1 15W-50 in my MC.Doesn't meet Indmar's requirements, but from a practical standpoint is probably unlikely to cause engine damage. If you prefer synthetic for some reason and want to stay in spec, consider Mobil 1 Delvac.

People who don't know better should realize that Indmar's recommendation of the "Pennzoil" brand is a result of a commercial marketing relationship between Indmar and Pennzoil and not because that particular brand of oil is somehow superior or more suitable for these engines. Indmar also recommends Pennzoil oil filters which are clearly inferior.
