View Full Version : Wiring a 1988 prostar 190?

I am going to re-wire my 1988 prostar 190 and I was wondering if there is a way to get a stock wiring harness for it or if its a do it yourself make your own harness kind of deal? Anybody?
Why would you want to rewire the boat completely, unless it was submerged in salt water? If you have electrical problems, I would recommend replacing the terminals. Crimp (correctly) and solder them and as long as it's all clean, bare copper, it'll be like new.

Whoever had it before me cut a bunch of wires. They let the rest of them sit in the bottom of the bilge not in the clips on the side for however long. I have had some electrical problems so for piece of mind I just assume completely re-wire the whole boat to save me headaches when im on the water.
If you see them again, slap them for me, too.
Stock harness? I seriously doubt it. If you can clip off a short section of each wire you can buy the amount you need, then buy the same terminals. MC may be able to tell you how long each wire needs to be but I thing they may have discarded the main harness jig by now. I would call them and give them the hull number.

I tried to search the parts inventory, but didn't come up with anything on MC's end. :(
I will ask Will if he can check when he comes back from tech. school.

Call SkiDIM. I know they sell a harness for the earlier PCM's. Not sure if they have anything for Indmar, but I doubt there would be many differences.

SkiDIM? Who where and how do I get ahold of them? Is it a dealer?

The guys at skidim.com said an older pleasurecraft wiring harness would work minus a couple small changes because the alternator is on the opposite side of the motor. Anybody know anything along those lines?
