I recently purchased a 1994 ProStar 190 that was in desperate need of some TLC.

Last week I stopped by Bay Area Watersports in Land O Lakes, FL. After to talking to Jim & Chuck, I left with new decals, and just about everything else I need to turn the boat around. Not to mention a few bar reccomendations for later that day. Can't say enough about these guys.

This weekend I peeled off the old vinyl, and found the gel coat to be severly raised behind the old decals. I knocked them down with 400 on a orbital sander, then hand wetsanding the areas with 1000 grit. Next I used some 3m rubbing compound on a circular buffer and followed with 3M Finesse-IT. Applied the decals last night, and they look great. Gonna let them settle in for about a week and put a coat of wax on. Any reccomendations on what to do after applying new vinyl?

Next challenge is to get rid of the infamous "cupholder" on the engine cover.

Here are some pics.

I'm thinking about selling the trailer and getting a galvanized one. Any takers?

If you don't mind me asking what did you pay for the decals? I also have a 194 PS 190 with the same color scheme that I want to freshen up.

And what do you mean about the cup holders? Do you mean replacing the stock plastic holders with stainless ones? If so from where and how much?

Thanks,

Doug

Talk to Jim@BAWS, he will take care of you.

As for the cup holders, I still haven't tracked any down. SkiDim has some, that I may roll with, but there was a question about their quality in an old post compared to West Marine. I don't believe West Marine sells them anymore though... As for the vent; still looking. Check out this post.

I saw some stainless cup holders on wakeside.com, I plan on getting some eventually... but keep forgetting to measure the ones I have :(
