I believe a small block is about 1000 lbs. (with transmission and running gear); In my I/O days a 350 Magnum with Bravo III drive was also about 1000 lbs.

I want to say I read somewhere that a 350, without transmission weighs about 600 lbs, and I can't guess how much more a 454 weighs.

Motor = Electric

Engine = mechanical device

I would say the 350 weighs 100 lbs less then the 454

Have a good one!!!!!!!

Post #5 says, 350 = 575 lbs. and 454 = 685 lbs, = 110 lbs. difference.

I take heat for this all the time. I use the word motor for the thing in the front of my car (middle of my boat) that sucks in air and fuel and makes horsepower. That is what I call it.

a motor is...
a machine that converts other forms of energy into mechanical energy and so imparts motion

So by your definition are hydraulic motors actually motors or engines? How about air motors, are they motors or engines?
Just wondering

Answering the question
Chevy 350 I've heard 600
Chevy 454 I've heard 675-700
Ford 302 I've heard 475
Ford 351 I've heard 550
These would be motors only no tranny. So complete Intake to Pan. Differences come when there is an aluminum intake or heads instead of cast iron. Aluminum heads and intake on a 351 saves 65 #'s, about 50#'s for the heads and 15#'s for the intake. EFI intake manifolds weigh more than carb intakes, and the weights above would not take boat exhaust manifolds into account. You could probably add 50#'s for a boat motor.
