I'm considering switching to hardshells. Any opinions out there on hardshells. Which are better, powershells or frogman?

the Fluid Motion Boots that Rod mentions seem to really have a lot of research behind them. I know BrianM can tell you a lot about them. He was very helpful when I was asking these questions last year even though I ultimately went the other direction. Double Wileys with no regrets.

As Doug said I am a big advocate of the FMs. I have been skiing them two seasons now and am extremely happy (came off of double Wileys). When I purchased them I felt (and still do) that the FMs are the best out there. The safest of all systems when set up properly, amazing control and extremely comfortable. Would be glad to answer any questions you might have.

Here is a little reading for you on the subject

Thanks all, Brian- do you use the single or dual plates?

Double plates. I attached a picture of my setup above. They give a super seamless release and are much easier on the front ankle in an OTF situation.

brian i have a question. how do they mount to the ski? it looks like a single plate screwed in. do they offer different drill hole patterns or do you have to drill new ones?

The plates fit most ski hole patterns, Specify which brand of ski you will be mounting the on when you order!

I've been on the single boot FM for 2 full seasons & love it!

There is a front and rear plate that use the existing holes in your ski. There is an option for an FMX plate that is one large plate that again mounts to factory holes. The FMX would be a little easier to setup and adjust but the standard mounts are not that difficult.
