just bought a new travel trailer.... 07 Laredo 284BH (bumper pull) 6900 lbs dry
actual unit---->http://www.jamattrv.com/moredetails.html?84638502

my 1995 K1500 suburban isn't going to work out for pulling it.

I'd love to find a K2500 diesel suburban, and my understanding is they haven't dieseled the subs since 1996.

but I'm looking toward the 2500 series dodge trucks with cummins, and extended cab.... not newer than 2002.

Funny thing, we stopped in our states largest camper place today coming home from a baby shower and I saw my dream rig. Winnebego Tour Master, Black, Red, Beige and Gold colors (all paint), pusher with tag axle, heated tile floors, mirrors, granite countertops, 4 flat screen tv's, 3 slide outs, loaded, $385,000 out the lot. Absolutely beautiful, but we kept on driving.

I have the F-150 version. Would love the 250 diesel but can't really justify it. I pull my 190 and a trailer for my ATVs. The 250 is sweet!

If I had to buy a used pickup, anything with a Cummins (Dodge) is good. My first one was an '03 Quad Cab with the 6-speed manual tranny. That is probably the best vehicle I have ever owned! Sometimes I wish I still had it.

I'd rather have an auto. I don't care for Fords, but it was the only diesel SUV I know of. I'll keep an eye out.

(you might watch this one. that buy it now price is VERY low. could be scandalous...)

This one's pretty decently priced. It's a theft recovery. I don't know you're price range. Are you looking to replace your current auto or just wanting a tow donkey?

If you are looking diesel..
Ford go 2000 - 2002 Crew cab
Dodge I'd go 1999-2002 Ext cab
Chevy/GMC- 2002 Crew cab

WFT is right. These are about your best chioces in used diesels for one reason or another.
To add to that Ford's w/ 7.3l are avail as early 2003 models also. Stay away from 6.0l Ford diesels, especially the early ones. Can also get 7.3l diesel Excursion.
Dodge, can't go wrong w/ 2003 and up models either. 02 on down will be cheaper though, old body style and easier to work on/bomb.
GM, 2002 - 2004, same LB7 engine. 01-03 injectors are 200k mi warranty across the board, known for problems, but covered for 200k mi. 02 is my fav too, maybe because that's what I own, but 03 changed the front clip, liek the 01-02 style better.

Nice trailer by the way!
If you plan on towing it much at all, or in the mtns, diesel is the only way to go if you can afford it.
A friend, older guy, doesn't drive fast, bought a new 06 Chev, 2500, CC, 4x4, 6.0l gas engine last year to pull the same size camper, 7klb dry. Truck is rated to tow 11klb or more right? hought it would pull his trlr well.
He is trading it for a DMax this spring. Said he is getting 6-7mpg towing the trailer on a good day and has to wind the beans out of the engine to keep highway speeds.

Read rod's thread about new truck to see mileage #'s on the Dmax.
