2000 prostar 190 steering cable.

My steering became so sticky I was having trouble turnig it. I discovered it was the cable that is sticky by process of elimination. I have the cable disconnected from both ends. Is there any way to pull the box or the other end off, so I can pull the cable out of the housing and clean and lube it? Or is it time for a new cable and box?

did you try grease in the three zerts where the cable ends at the rudder box? 1 is for the cable, 1 is for the swivel point, and 1 is for the rudder box.

Where is the zert for the rudder box located. I can only find the first 2 mentioned. Thanks
