How pissed do you think the wife was when I began spraying red paint in the garage next to her new Yukon?

Very, but don't she understand the garage is yours? I tell my wife you can have the whole house but the garage is mine. So what's the ride? CR250?

Very good Mr Cherry Wheat.:D

1978 Honda CR250 Elsinore Red Rocker. I am excited about this one. This is the best one I have ever done just because I have a sweet spot in my heart for these especially because I begged my Dad for one when I was 15:rolleyes:  :D

I did consider it but Matching Honda's Tahiti Red has proven to difficult so I had to spray it. The cans from www.elsinores.com were only $24.95 and I needed 3:rolleyes:

Reddish orange but more red than orange. It looks orange but it is really red in person.

Nice race huh? A little slop sure does change things on a track that is already nuts to ride. Those triples take some real stones to jump, I don't care who you are...

Nice ride Mike! First BB I rode was a YZ 490 4 spd. My buddy went from an XR500 PIG to a CR 480 5 spd air bike that was a freakin' blast! Lastly he had a CR500 water bike that he raced regularly at Carlsbad Open while I piddled on the 250's. The new bikes believe it or not generate the same power but in a much friendlier sense. Have any pics?:o ha, remember that color, my 83 cr480 was a blast for it's time

I had one myself that was on an FMF at the three seam that was tough. I made it much better but not perfect. Best way I have fond is to plug and wrap input side with rubber from an old tube held on with Hose clamps. Next use the same old innertube and center the vlave stem over the tailpipe opening. Cut holes in a couple more pieces of rubber and secure with another smaller hose clamp. Plummers torch heat the **** out of that ding and then hit it with air from your compressor! Test and measure but it should not take a ton of air. The hotter you can make the ding the better! Good luck!8p Already tried, no luck ... its thick!!!

Thanks for your insight Ric. How many Elsinores have you restored? Are you familiar with what detract and adds value to an Elsinore? Do you know what a Mugen head does to its value or Fox Shocks or an original Fox Swingarm? How about an Enhanced Clutch Basket? Progressive Springs or Resivoir Rear Shocks? Please help me learn.??

Your comment is as helpful and aiding as saying a ripped rear seat will detract from the value of your MC. To which I would say.....

Nice! I just picked up my old YZ80G (first year of the mono shock) and it's in BAD shape. Parent's had left it outside for years after I moved out. I'd like to restore it, but not sure it's worth it or even possible as it needs all of the plastic, a new seat, new carb, All cables, and the front forks are pitted BAD! Any suggestions out there? Scrap it?

Pilot,

I bought this bike in similar fashion (in boxes) the only problem is that perticular model is not as collectible as some of the others. If you are restoring it to keep it I would begin searching e-bay. There are numerous ways to get parts too. Salvage yards and speciality restoration houses have many parts for a lot of bike from this era.

See attached... It's rough! Only reason for wanting to restore it is that I personally raced it when I was a kid and would like my 13yr old son to have a chance to ride it, though in hindsight, it was a beast... 0-72mph in nothing flat and would lift the front wheel off the ground if you just nailed it without dropping the clutch all the way through 4th gear.

... suprised I'M still alive with some of the things I did on this thing....

It can be done. Take a ton of pictures. Get a buch of zip lock bags and a marker so you can label everythig as you take it apart. Some scouring pads and go to town. I've had and seen worse for sure. GLTU

My main problem is I've got too many projects at the moment and not enough time or money. Still need to finish the interior of my tristar (before spring) and do some gelcoat work and get the new graphics on it. Then have a 97 camaro sitting out front with a seized engine that I picked up for next to nothing. Then wrecked my car (eclipse spyder turbo) a week ago and will end up fixing it myself because I hit a big truck and we both got tickets so it's going to be fend for yourself and it's not worth claiming it on insurance when I can do everything myself and not have the added rates.

Everything's on hold at the moment though.. Brother in laws dad took his own life last night.

He's got an identical one in red that he just finished, but I don't have pics of that one yet.

Does he keep them or sell them?

He doesn't know what to do with them. I don't think he could sell them for what he has into them. If I remember right I think he said he has over 5k invested into part and materials on the blue one, ...and that doesn't even count the labor hours he's spent on them.

I told him that I think he should drain the fluids and put them in his house for display.

Those sell for $3500 - $7000 depending upon the model and restored condition.

Someone like www.batorinternational.com would like to have them

I am trying to decide if blow me or bite me is the appropriate response?
