Local car audio shop just called and said they got the cans in for JL speakers, supposedly now the only ones other than the mastercrafts. They said they are $249 a pair, gonna run down to the shop tomorrow and I'll try to take some pics.

Just got back from the shop, got told the wrong price they are $299 a pair and come powder coated in black or white, or they can be painted any color you wish. They are for the 6.5 jl coax speakers, which arent really coax since the tweeter is seperate. If wany one wants their contact info PM me.

How about a link where we can see the cans? Do you know if they have them that will mount to the '07 tower?

No link they wouldnt give up their souce and dont really display their products on their site. Wish I had more info, but as far as I know these are the only cans I have heard of other than MC's to mount JL Speakers.

What do you mean the tweater is separate (like the clarions). Will those 6.5 jl's fit in the 04 stock cans???

I'm not sure if they would fit in the 04 stock cans dont know the dimensions of them. I just want to get 4 JL speakers for the tower. Here is a link to the speakers.

Thanks for the link. I want the jl's on my tower, Just need to check and see if they fit I guess. I would Just kill the side mounted tweeters on my cans. Still think they would sound better than those clarions in there now. I put 6 of the 7.5 jl's inside the boat and they sound great.

I wonder if JL makes the Cans on our MasterCrafts?

I don't think JL does otherwise I would find the same ones for sale someplace else, unless MC has a deal to the only retailer.

Check out Audioformz.com. My buddy did some searching for cans and they look good. When I talked with them, they indicated to provide actual measurements for the speakers to ensure they fit prior to purchase. Here's what I'm doing in Februrary for my 2001 PS209.

JL Audio M650-CCX (coax) - 3 Pair. M10IB5-4 Sub. M6450 Amp. I'm most likely getting the audioformz enclosures as well. I just need to confirm the JL will fit the opening. The guys at JL Audio Tech Service are great to talk with. Oh yeah, the cans on the web-site are $1000 and are manufactured directly for Mastercraft. Check out the new XSTAR and you'll see the cans on the boat. They are machine billeted(sp) aluminum.

Those audioformz are a much better deal if the speakers will fit.

Aren't there alot of other tower speaker/can choices out there?

JL's are great, but POLK and ROCKFORD-FOSGATE speakers are good too, right?

Check-out these sites for speakers:

www.monstertower.com
www.buywake.com
www.wakeside.com
fusion speakers

I'm sure there are others. Let me think............

A few things to consider... manufacturers are going to rant and rave over sound quality... don't forget you are in open air which means sound won't be as good as car audio. A friend of mine who is in the retail electronic business told me Polk quality has degraded over the years. Polk was one of my first interests until I talked further with my friend. If JL Audio is too pricy, check out MB Quart as an alternative option. Many boat owners put car audio grade products in their boat. Most car audio stuff is stamped steel and painted - potential for rust.

Cans/Enclosures... good luck finding them. Someone should start a thread just on enclosures. Demand is limited - less manufacturers. I had a hell of a time finding them.

clarification: Car audio quality is being referred to as though you are in your car.

The lucky devil cans are 700 a pair, not to bad when the speakers themselves retail for $399.99

$700 a pair w or w/o speakers? I think I'll stick to the audioformz due to the fact I'll get JL at cost which is a huge savings over retail. I couldn't justify the added expense from $150 to $300.
