Since the ProStar guys/gals and the S&S guy/gals have their threads, how about us proud TriStar owners post pics of our beautiful boats. As soon as I figure out how to post a pic on here, I'll post mine.

If this thread can't get lakes rick out of the woodwork, nothing can. He was not a Tri fan to be sure. I had an 89 Tristar a few years ago, I'll try and dig out a pic. It was a great boat for us....

Had my lift there for quite a few years at my BIL's place and lived there when I was a kid. It's just too crazy there for me now, way overdeveloped, main reason I sold the boat. The water is not poluted, just very organic due to silt and it needs to be dredged.
Too bad that we don't have more options nearby.

I don't know how to post pics. I have a 1990 Tristar 190 open bow. I have a 2006 Roswell tower on it with board racks. Usually load it up with minimum 1200lbs of ballast plus whoever i can fit in the boat. It rides a little low but the wake is absolutely awesome!

Do you have any pics with the fat seat full in the back. I've always thought that would be a good way to weight my TriStar but was concerned about how far it would stick up. The hull gets pretty shallow where the rear seat is. Is the fat seat still usable as seating when it's full?

it sits pretty low in the water, with all that weight and like 6 people in the boat, the platform is about 4" under the water. You just have to be careful when turning and slowing down so you don't sink the boat. Otherwise, it works awesome!

87 TriStar 190
03-12-2007, 08:26 PM
With about four people in front of the pylon in mine and in gear, you want to be careful not to take the wake of a wakeboard boat head on, or you're gonna get wet. It's perfectly happy to take water over the bow. A few times and you learn to anticipate that. I can imagine fully loaded with ballast what it would be like. Post any pics if you have some.

justindacey
03-13-2007, 12:33 AM
i don't have any pictures of it loaded up driving down the lake but you learn how to drive it when it's weighted down. You just have to be on the throttle when you drive into waves...

Hey justindacey

Where are you in northern ontario?

I see you use 4 fat sacs - how much total weight?

I have a 220 and have only put about 1200#s in mine, I was going to use more weight this season just debating on how much.

I am in Sarnia, however we go up to Wasaga occasionally.

i'm in Sudbury. I have those fatsacs in there plus as many people as i can cram into the boat. The rear sac is about 600lbs, the two side sacs are around 275 each, and the other one is around 350 lbs. Add some people and the wake is HUUUUUUGE! although it handles like a piece of **** lol.

Hey SHarr5184,

I just put in the Clarion M475 two weeks ago. I love the unit. A few years back I replaced the original speakers with Clarion CM1625. The system sounds great and looks better.

I'm the original owner of my 1989 TriStar 190. It's a fantastic boat that has never required a single repair.

Give a look at the Clarion website in the marine area to get an idea of the great products available.

http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2007/marine/index.html

I hope my bias as a Clarion employee is not showing. Best of luck with your boat.

Thanks for the compliment on my old truck..

I purchased it knowing I had alot of work to do to it. Next thing I knew I was wire wheeling the bare frame for paint as it sat on two sawhorses.. Yep, frame up resto as my vert sat all stripped and my NEW boat sat in the garage..

The stepside was a 77 with a factory 454, turbo 400, and a loaded silverado.. Owned it for 10 years and a guy flew out from Michigan to buy it...

No wonder my wife left....

Other than the obvious aqua metalflake fiberglass (love that aqua metalflake), what distinguishes an 'SE' model Tristar 190 from the standard? I'm not familiar with those. Judging from the pictures on this thread, there are quite a few interior configurations, especially the 220's. On yours, is the side MC logo original or a later upgrade? Very nice looking rig.

SE was a Jade Metal Flake option for 1989 and I believe thats it.
jim@baws hooked me up with TT style decals about 30% larger than oem.

Tristar 190 was made 2 ways: sport(closed bow), walk-thru(open bow)
Barefoot 190 which was a sport 190 with a 454 big block
Tristar 220 was made 2 ways: walk-thru and the walk-around
