Ok folks here's the deal.. the whole interior is currently out of the boat, but the befores are below. I am paying a pretty good amount of $$$$ to have all of this done and your input could really be helpful

1. The carpet will be med. grey
2. Seats and engine cover will be mainly light grey.
3. The accent stripes will stay where they are, except in the bow where they will come to a point before the middle backrest cusion. The accent stripes will be dark grey with flames stitched into them opening toward the stern from the bow. (No blue will remain)
4. on the bow backrest I plan to put 3 stars under an MC logo (tristar)
5. Most of the cording is being done away with b/c I feel it dates the boat
6. The dash and guage panels are going to be replaced with brushed aluminum. (I may go with new guages if I can find a set of white faced with a hr mtr)

I realize the boat is the size of a football field, but it throws a mean wake + I can fit 10 people... Anyway... Input would be greatly appreciated

Monte72, I see what you are talking about on the color stripes going completely around the boat. I looked at my brochures and it didn't show how they were, because they were back page, distance shots, not close-ups.

I'm kind of glad the skins need replacing the blue rainbow stripes are one thing I'll be glad to get rid of. What do you think about ideas for the new skins?

I'm also looking at moving the speakers up into the upper padding and building a ski locker/ lounge seat on the starboard side of the engine cover..... I'll have to find new speaker grills to do this.. Or has anybody ever used speaker cover fabric? The speakers are 4 Kicker 690i's.

If you are going to stay in the gray
I would cut down on the stripes if you keep all the stripes make the color change
Between them suttle, maybe the piping should be the same color as your main vinyl color, there are a lot of lines going on it looks busy, your eyes go all over when you look at it
It is hard to have vertical and horizontal lines, so I cut down on the lines
It looks like a fun project, good luck……..

Yes it is, that is the test sheet he did for me... That design will be inserted three times on both sides in the rear. Twice on the port side seat backs, once on the starboard seat back, and once on the side of the helm. Symmetrical of course!!! the MC with 3 stars will still happen on the very front seat back.... Still figuring on the engine box and drivers seat.... Thanks for noticing:cool:

Monte,

Great job with the project! I can't believe I haven't seen this thread until now.

I love the idea of the tristar walk around. When I bought my tristar last year, I would have bought a walk around if I found one. It is a little unconventional in design, but seems so functional.

Thanks for sharing the project here.

I like this project! The new skins will be a great improvement. I had a boat with teal and purple trim for a while, so I understand how you feel about the "blue rainbow" trim. The shot of the flame design is awesome!

Did you make the dash panels on a CNC mill? Looking good! We definitely will be needing more picks as this thing progresses.

WOW! What a coincidence. I am a brand new member here. I joined because I am in the middle of a re-do on my...get this...1989 Tristar 220. It looks exactly the same color as yours, Monte72, except for the carpet color which has been redone in a dark grey color. The seats are the same though. I put a custom tower on last year. It makes for an awsome wakeboard boat. I was thinking about going with a light grey color with dark grey accents. My tower will be black. (I built it and haven't had it powder coated yet.) I will also be getting rid of the piping trim around the seats. I will be keeping a check on how your project is going.

Now that is somethin:) I thought I was the only one in the world w/ a 220.. I wish my interior looked that good when I bought mine. That is quite a coincidence on your color choice. You may have read though the entire thread to see my color choices. I think it is going to look great when it is done. The only thing to look out for is the fact that the int will no longer match the outside stripe. Not a biggie for me b/c I plan to change the color of the stripe, but it will add a small expense.. Good luck with it, make sure to take a lot of pics.. Oh welcome to the board!:)

I plan to have the stripe painted black before summer too. The exterior is scratched up pretty bad. Somebody loaded and unloaded it without padding on the trailer guides I think. When I get this stuff finished, I'd like to sell it maybe next year and buy a mid 90's model 205. Who knows, I may love it so much that I decide to keep it. It does haul a lot of people and it runs great.
