View Full Version : 1998 MC 205 EFI Tranny ?

Could someone give me a hand I have a 205 and Iam selling it and they wont to know if its a powerslot tranny ? How can I tell Ive had several boats with BW 1;1 71c but not nothing this new before.

look on the tranny itself and on the top should be a id tag with what brand it is ..it should also say that ratio on that tag...i have a 2000 x star(pro205) and it has a hurth

power slot isnt a brand is it ? I know of Hurth and BW or is it just a model?

You are correct Powerslot is not a brand. Your 1998 should be a Hurth. Look for the metal plate on top of the transmission. It will say 1:1 or 1.5:1 if it is the latter it is a Powerslot. Also another way to tell is the Powerslot has an additional large section on the back of the transmission. This is the reduction. The Powerslot is a good half again as big as the 1:1. Here is a picture of both. These are both BW but the Hurths look similar. The Powerslot is on the right.

You can also look at the numbers on the prop. If the last number is 1, then it's a 1:1. 1:1s have 1" drive shafts. Powerslots have 1.125 IIRC. They'll also turn a larger prop.
