Holy Quarter Mile, UMP! This girl is HAAAAWT!!!

http://www.mnworld.com/warriors/messages/9/4105.jpg

I did see a show about the Force family and how dad is passing the nitro off to Ashley. I know it was a reality show about them, but Dad came off as a real jerky boy...

Step aside, Ms. Patrick, there's a new Force in town

Home town girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
John did come off bad in the show; he is a very nice guy…crazy but a good hart
He and the family have done so much for the Kids in our town, that no one knows
About, and his Christmas car show “toys for tots toy drive” is so big over 5000+ toys
Yes he is Crazy but you need to be to go 330 mph in the ¼ mile
It is strange to see him outside of racing; he is like that all the time….
I was at the shop last night to see a friend who works for John
John was talking 1000mph it was so funny…

Did I say Ashley not hard on the eyes; she has a good team around her, now she
Needs to step it up, and drive it straight, I wish her well

I think force used to do the letterman show and always made me laugh. I dont follow racing closely but have seen a few interviews at the end of the track right after he pulled his helmet off and they made me laugh too.. seems like a guy with alotta spirit!

Since we are jackin' the thread.... I ran into John once..literally.....
I was at the nationals at Route 66 and walked by his trailer as they were getting ready to fire up the car. And as always it draws a huge crowd. (EYES WATERING) and all;) .. So I started to walk away and as I turned, this ford taurus was behind me and out pops John from the passenger seat right in my face..Of course I didn't notice it was him until he took a few steps into the crowd with everyone throwing stuff in his face for an autograph....
That was my encounter with the man..Next time I will be more prepared.....:o

After making slow and steady progress in the first three days of testing at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, second-generation Funny Car driver Ashley Force made the most of her final opportunity by pushing her Castrol GTX Ford Mustang through the timers in a career-best 4.729 seconds Tuesday.

It was the quickest run of the rookie's brief career and the best by any John Force Racing Inc. team member

I think she will win before Ms.Patrick 8p

Maybe you guys know...I've seen a few times in racing, the women racers wear patches or what not with "Women power" or "Girl power" or "Woman team".... I can't recall who had one more specific than that but you get the point. Now, are any of these "teams" women owned, operated, maintained, supported, sponsored, or anything other than "driven by"..?

On another note...Shirley Muldowney.. The day I saw her entire "team" for sale almost brought a tear to my eye. On the side of her (I don't know a guess) multi-million dollar tractor trailer, I saw this tiny little Ace hardware style "For Sale" sign at Route 66. I thought it was a joke until I saw the same sign on all of her equipment.

I think its more of a woman thing (we just don't understand) than an actual team, but I could be wrong....

I guess a couple 1.05 signs is a heck of a lot cheaper than a broker;) ???

Well she did it 8p ………Ashley did what she had to on her last run all 4 Force cars are in!!!!!!
It is raining right now so I might not go today
it looks like it well stop later in the day?????

The real drama unfolded as the final session went along with 14-time champion John Force initially getting bumped out, then earning a spot at the expense of his daughter Ashley Force, who is making her professional debut. Then John zoomed back up to the starting line and watched Ashley get in with a 4.790, only to realize that if the ladder stayed the way it was at that particular moment, he'd have to race Ashley in the first round.
Ultimately, all four John Force Racing cars made the field with Ashley opening against teammate and brother-in-law Robert Hight, who led the first two days of qualifying before ending up second overall.
"My little baby earned her spot," John said. "This is the greatest day of my life next to her being born."

TV tonight 08:00 PM - 11:00 PM ET (ESPN2)
should be fun I will post some photos later

Ashley Runs 4.730/319.82, Now #2 Best prior run: 5.170/218.09, Was #10 Right Lane: Eric Medlen Runs 4.740/321.81, Now #4 Best prior run: 8.738/93.75, Was #17 Of course John was in front of the tower to watch Ashley make her career best run, both ET and mph. She slots in behind Hight. In a way that's tough. Career best is a tenth off the pace. Medlen was just a tick behind and goes to #4.

The six-time NHRA tour winner, who participated in Sunday's 38th annual ACDelco NHRA Gatornationals, was being treated in the surgical intensive care unit at Shands. He was listed in critical condition while being further evaluated by medical personnel.
Medical staff will provide a condition update at midday Tuesday according to John Force Racing sources who emphasized that, at the present time, Medlen is not permitted to have visitors, phone calls, cards, or flowers.
“Eric's extended family would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers,” said Kelly Antonelli, spokesperson for JFR. “At the same time, we would ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time and allow the medical staff to do its work.”
A former crewmember on boss and teammate Force's championship-winning Funny Cars, Medlen began his driving career in 2004, winning a race his first year. He won three more times in 2005 and two times last season in a Funny Car prepared by his father, John Medlen.

According to Medlen's father, John, doctors are continuing to work to reduce pressure and swelling from what has been characterized as a severe closed head injury suffered when the 33-year-old's car crashed heavily into the guardwall.
“We would ask everyone to keep Eric and his family in their prayers while at the same time respecting their need for privacy in this very difficult time,” said Kelly Antonelli, a spokesperson for John Force Racing Inc.
“Obviously, our primary concern is for Eric's health,” Antonelli said, “but we also are aware of erroneous information that has been posted on various Internet sites, and, unfortunately, that has been a source of additional pain for the family.
“To address that issue, we will continue to provide daily medical updates authorized by the family and the medical staff here at Shands.”

New Up Date:(

NHRA Funny Car driver Eric Medlen survived a delicate, three-hour craniotomy procedure to relieve pressure and hemorrhaging Tuesday evening but remained in critical condition Wednesday at Shands at the University of Florida medical center.
Over the next two weeks, the 33-year-old will remain in a drug-induced coma designed to promote healing.
“We consider ourselves fortunate that Eric is in one of the top hospitals in the world for this type of injury and is getting absolutely the best treatment possible,” said John Medlen, Eric's father and crew chief.
“We want to thank Eric's friends, fans, sponsors, and the entire NHRA drag racing community for their support in this very difficult time for our family,” he said. “We would ask that they continue to remember Eric in their prayers. He's a fighter, but he has a long battle ahead of him.”
The elder Medlen also asked, for Eric's sake and the sake of the family, that fans refrain from speculation, especially on the Internet, where erroneous information already has been a source of considerable anguish.

Showing huge support for injured racer Eric Medlen, his extended drag racing family along "Nitro Alley" in the Indianapolis suburb of Brownsburg, Ind., gathered Thursday night for an uplifting prayer service to reconnect with each other, show support for Medlen and his race team, and offer prayers for his ultimate recovery. Numerous teams have built race shops in Brownsburg in the last few years, most of which are in the same industrial park.

More than 100 friends, co-workers, and NHRA drivers and crew chiefs attended the event at Connection Pointe Christian Church of Brownsburg, which will now hold an 11:30 a.m. church service Sunday in Medlen's name. According to event organizer Kelly Bustos, team manager of Tuttle Motorsports, the response to her impromptu gathering was overwhelming and extremely well-received.
"We're all hurting right now, and when you drive in to work every morning and see that John Force Racing shop over there, your heart just goes out to them," Bustos said. "Eric's car was being unloaded Wednesday and we all saw it, and it just kind of reminded us that one of our own really needs our prayers.
"Eric and J.R. [Todd, Tuttle Motorsports' driver] are very close friends, and Eric is a regular visitor to our shop. We all miss him so much. It got me to thinking that everyone at John Force Racing must be hurting just as much if not more, so I put this deal together to give us all a chance to lean on each other and let everyone at John Force Racing know that we're here for them during this time."
Whit Bazemore, Larry Dixon, Tony Pedregon, Tommy Johnson Jr., and Melanie Troxel were joined at the prayer service by crew chiefs Dean Antonelli, Jimmy Prock, Dickie Venables, Lee Beard, Rob Flynn, John Stewart, Mike Green and Tony Shortall as well as crewmembers from John Force Racing, Snake Racing, Don Schumacher Racing, Lucas Oil Racing, Gotham City Racing, Carrier Boyz Racing, Torco Racing's MIA/POW camp, Pedregon Racing, and David Powers Motorsports.
The event was presided over by Steve Reeves, lead pastor at Connection Pointe Christian Church. Outreach Pastor Kent Fillenger also helped put the event together.
"The service was great," Bustos said. "We all prayed together for Eric, which was very important, and Pastor Reeves also had some uplifting messages in his sermon that I think really helped us all feel better about the situation. We didn't want this to be a sad occasion, more like a healing time for all of us and for Eric as well.
"Connection Pointe Church was awesome. They refused any donations from us, and Pastor Reeves actually pulled me aside at one point and said, 'Let me get this straight: These guys usually compete against each other?' He was so impressed with how everyone had come together. I told him that's the way the drag racing community works."
Bustos had the entire proceedings videotaped so the people with Medlen in Florida, including John Medlen, John Force, Robert Hight, and Ashley Force, could view the event. A CD of the event was set aside for Medlen to watch when he recovers.
At the event, two large posters of Medlen were on display that visitors were asked to sign. They will be framed and sent to the Medlen family. A long list of get-well wishes that Bustos received from teams outside of Indianapolis will be included.
Sunday's 11:30 a.m. service in Medlen's honor will be held in the Worship Center at the Connection Pointe Christian Church of Brownsburg, 1800 N. Green St. Log on to www.connectionpointechurch.com (http://www.connectionpointechurch.com/) for exact directions.

A very sad day in the hometown............................

God Be With You Eric.............................

NHRA President Tom Compton issued the following statement on the passing of Eric Medlen: “Words cannot describe how everyone at NHRA is feeling after the passing of one of our brightest young stars, Eric Medlen. He earned his way to the top through hard work and perseverance and, in doing so, gained the respect of his fellow competitors.
Eric was a great spokesperson not only for John Force Racing but the sport of NHRA POWERade Drag Racing and he will be forever remembered for his enthusiasm, uplifting personality and ever-present smile. He was destined to become a great champion in the sport and all of us at NHRA were grateful and fortunate to have shared in some of his glory.
Eric left this sport far too soon and his absence will be felt by everyone within the NHRA racing community. On behalf of everyone at NHRA, I want to send our sincere condolences to the Medlen Family and John Force Racing.”

Medlen laid to rest in Indy following an emotion-filled and star-studded service

By Rob Geiger Sr., NHRA.com Senior Editor

Funny Car driver Eric Medlen was laid to rest on a dreary Wednesday afternoon at West Ridge Park Cemetery in Clermont, Ind., within earshot of O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, drag racing's most hallowed ground. The 33-year-old John Force Racing driver died as a result of head injuries suffered in a testing accident March 19 in Gainesville, Fla.

The burial was preceded by an emotional, early-morning funeral service at Connection Pointe Christian Church in nearby Brownsburg. Fourteen-time NHRA world champion John Force led the pallbearers, who included Brandon Bernstein, J.R. Todd, Morgan Lucas, Robert Hight, crewmembers, and Jerold Camarillo, the professional cowboy who tutored Medlen during his budding rodeo career.

NHRA Chaplain and Racers For Christ President Larry Smiley presided over both ceremonies, which were attended by more than 1,000 members of the drag racing community, including world champions Shirley Muldowney, Don Prudhomme, Gary Scelzi, Frank Hawley, Tony and Cruz Pedregon, Larry Dixon, Kenny Bernstein, Jeg Coughlin, and Greg Anderson. Dozens of active drivers also attended, as did numerous crewmembers from virtually every Professional race team.

Connection Pointe Christian Church overflowed with flowers and tributes for Medlen's funeral service.

Medlen's Auto Club crew entered the church in team uniforms, followed by each of the crews of the other three John Force Racing groups, who also wore team uniforms. Wearing sunglasses, Force later entered with his extended family, including son-in-law Hight.

NHRA was represented by President Tom Compton, Senior Vice President-Racing Operations Graham Light, Vice President-Public Relations & Communications Jerry Archambeault, and Director of Top Fuel and Funny Car Racing Dan Olson.

The church and altar were ringed with large flower arrangements that continued to pour into the facility through the morning. Representatives from every form of auto racing had sent condolences to the Medlen family, including Eric's father and crew chief, John, his stepmother, Martha, and his mother, Mimi. Eric's sister, Eryn Gonzales, also was in attendance.

Medlen's body remained in front of the stage in his Castrol firesuit, and the inscription Eric "Duffy" Medlen, 4 F/C was visible on the inside of the casket lid.

"He was the son I never had," Force said in an emotional eulogy. "He was the leader of my Next Generation of drivers at John Force Racing. He loved his crew -- you guys will never know love like that again -- and he loved his mom and Martha, and, God, he loved his dad.

"He had the personality. We all saw what a talker he was. We all saw his energy. Whenever I was feeling burned out, I'd see this star that never quit, and it was Eric, picking me back up again.

"He loved the rain, even at the races. That's when we'd get to leave the track and go to the movies together. He'd come up to me and say, 'Let's go to the movies. Dad said we could go.' Never mind what I said, as long as his dad said he could go, he was all right with that.

"Whenever I'd race him, he'd be talking nonstop on the radio. We'd do our burnouts, and he'd say, 'Look at the people, boss, they love us.' And I'd tell him to shut up because I was old, and I needed to concentrate. He'd roll up there and turn on the first light and say, 'You're gonna fire me, boss, because I'm fixing to kick your …'; that's how he was.

"One morning we were in the trailer, and he came in all serious and said, 'Well, this ain't gonna be a good day.' I asked him why not, and he said, 'Because I'm sending you home early.' Sure enough, he beat me and sent me home early."

Toward the end of his eulogy, Force, fighting back tears, told a final story.

"One time Eric had girl troubles, and he came to me. I walked him out in the shop and said, 'Look at that car, Eric. That car will always love you. It'll fix you when you need fixing. I said it will always protect you, and I was wrong. For that, I'm sorry, Eric."

Force and Smiley talked about the comfort that the Medlens had received since their son's death through an epiphany John Medlen had in which his son told him that he was okay. "Only the Lord can explain why that happened," Force said in closing. "Right now, I think Eric is telling me to sit down."

Camarillo's sister, Christi Camarillo, then spoke on behalf of Medlen's mother and her brother Jerold.

"He put you on such a pedestal," she said to Force, reading the words of Medlen's mother. "Thank you for all you've done for him. Ashley, he gave you grief, and that's not going to stop, but you were very special to him, like a sister.

"He was born three weeks late, but with that same smile. He was a great son, and when he had that chance to reconnect with his dad, I knew that's what he wanted the most.

"He loved being a race car driver. Once I was on the phone with him when this very excited fan asked for his autograph. I could overhear the conversation, and Eric was so nice to her, like normal. When the girl was walking away, I heard her say, 'Thank you, Ron.' Eric just laughed. 'I'm not Ron Capps,' he told her.

"You've gone to a better place with a big piece of my heart, son, but keep running and don't ever look back."

For Jerold, Christi conveyed the message of Medlen's love of horses and the rodeo. "When he had trouble with his lights one time, I told him to be aggressive at the barrier [about the barrier that calf ropers break through to start their timers]. That was cowboy advice to a race car driver.

"Maybe God needed a Funny Car driver, or maybe he just needed another cowboy. I think George Strait put it best: ‘We'll see you on the other side, partner.' "

The service ended with a prayer before the pallbearers carried Medlen out into the misty, gray day and began the funeral procession to the cemetery, which stretched the length of Brownsburg and beyond.

Atlanta Dragway is buzzing Sunday morning with what has to be the most anticipated first-round match-up in the history of the sport. Fourteen-time NHRA champion and drag racing legend John Force will face his daughter Ashley in Round 1 Funny Car action at the 27th annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals. It is the first father/daughter tilt in NHRA history and the first time the Forces have ever lined up against one another.

(W) Ashley Force (Castrol GTX Mustang) 0.134 4.779 317.05

(L) John Force (Castrol GTX Mustang) 0.102 5.783 174.84

This is the fourth different woman John has race and the 119 different driver. John with slight starting line advantage and then around 400 feet he started losing traction and it was all over for Dad. Ashley with a great looking pass and gets to the finish line under power. This is the longest into the season John has ever gone without a first round win. Prior to this three races was the most he had ever gone without a round win.

Pedregon with a big starting line advantage and is up in smoke early. Force with a good clean pass to about 1100 feet when it dropped a cylinder. She is going to the semifinal for he first time and she is giving up lane choice. This is only the second time a woman has advanced to the semifinal in Funny Car, t5he first one was Della Woods at Maple Grove in September 1985.

Hay the old man finally won this year!!!!!!!!!!:D

An emotional John Force celebrated his 123rd Funny Car victory like it was his first, erasing the memories of a very tough first half of '07 Sunday afternoon with a huge win at Bristol Dragway. Force shared Thunder Valley's winner's circle with Top Fuel winner Brandon Bernstein and Pro Stock titlist Jeg Coughlin Jr., who are both challenging the points leaders in their categories from their second-place rankings.

Force outlasted Cruz Pedregon in the final -- 4.99 to 5.02 -- to score his first win of the season. Prior to this weekend's seventh annual O'Reilly NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals presented by Q, the 14-time champion hadn't advanced past the quarterfinals. Bernstein zoomed away from an up-in-smoke Bob Vandergriff Jr., while Coughlin survived a starting line scare against Kenny Koretsky to win his second race of the year.

Max, red lit first round ……………………………..:(

NHRA fans played a huge role in Force's victory and no doubt will help her tackle her final obstacle to being named the hottest athlete in all sports.
