how much are you thinking you want and what year is it coming off of. The brackets are different on some. my boat is an 03 and I cannot find slalom racks for that year of mini tower.

Rod, for sure I will be interested, the thing is that you are to far and send it to cancun could be very expensive.

rodltg2
02-05-2007, 10:24 PM
since it looks like im buying the boat, im throwing it out there again.
pq2 has first dibs, but if the shipping to cancun is too much it will go to next guy. i havent seen it in person, but if its mint ill be asking $1000 plus shipping. price will be reflected by its condition. although i cant see how a tower get too thrashed.

as a reminder its a mini tower for the 2001-2006 prostar 190/197. i dont know if it will fit anything else. im guessing not.

rodltg2
02-05-2007, 10:38 PM
the mini is a smaller version of the standard. dont ask me whats the point of it though :D

here is a pic off the website from where i found the boat. too funny the guy already put the sold flag on it :D

My brother has a mini tower on his 197 and I think that its awesome. Its great if you want to teach anyone how to board, or if you want to foil. I know that you guys are ski purests, but I think that the mini tower can make the boat just that much more diverse.(Once again, I realize that your probably not looking for any diversity with a pure ski boat)

your brother sounds like a really smart guy:) also, the nice thing about the tower is that you can have storage racks for skis and boards, and the bimini integrates into the tower ... mark, carefull about hanging out here:)

I have to admit that the mini towers look descent on the 190/197s. Much more proportional than a full tower. Someone is going to get a nice deal.

For some like me (and obviously Rod) a tower would be a whole lot more hastle than it is worth. I have the occasion a few times a season where I wish I had a tower. Besides that we pretty much slalom. A tower would have to be folded up and down every time we went out or the top section would have to be taken off except for the few times a year it was used. I'll save the $2k and the hastle of having a tower. When I resell the boat someone can add whatever tower they want.

What's funny, you're buying it...right?

I can understand why some prefer a boat sans tower. But, why would you prefer 4 patched wholes over an existing tower (assuming you're going to have them properly filled and gelled)?

Rod, thanks but i was asking for how much it will cost to ship it from cali to cancun, and i it will be too much. Thanks anyway.

Properly filled and gelled you will never know a tower was there

i probably wont evn fill them, just plug it with a bolt. i rather sell it for a few reasons. i will keep it in a storage port at the ski lake where i would have mess with taking it down . second i like the looks wiht out it and i wont ever use it. third , i can use the money to help pay for the boat!

But why a mini-tower? Why not just have a full tower? Who is the is the creator of the mini-tower?! I'm too drunk to taste this "mini-tower" idea.

mini-tower is a factory option on the 190/197. Rod, just take the top of it off, if you aren't gonna have the holes gelled. It's gonna look like crud with bolts in it, and you'll want to sell in 6months anyway, keep the tower for resale.

My own personal opinion is that on the 197, the mini tower looks more proportional and goes with the lines better than the full tower. I do not wakeboard much at all, but I still see value in the ability to toss the rope up on the tower for times when we are cruising and I am pulling someone goofing around on a wakeskate or something. On my 1996 PS 190, I use my airboom the same way, it also provides a little extra storage for a couple skis, wakeskate and a wakeboard. To each his own I supposed, but in my eyes I see the mini tower as being a very useful tool and I love the way it looks with the inegrated bimini... Just My Honest Opinion!

keeping it for resale mya be the best bet, but i still dont like the way it lookd with the legs attached. ill have to see when i get it home tommorow. i thnink the mini tower is a great idea. but for me who will only use it at a ski lake there is no point. skiis never even get in the boat.

Ryan ... keep in mind this is Rod;)

Man, just remove the top section of the tower and put it in storage, and think of the lower section as a roll bar.

If you think it'll look bad with the legs still on the boat, wait 'til you see it with BOLTS in the holes.

the hole i believe is about 1/2" . it wont even be that visible. but ill check first before i remove it.

Keep the legs. You can do dips from them.

/runs away like crazy.
//would also remove and sell the tower (having the holes properly patched) due to personal preference.

As a matter of fact ,i never really know what was wrong... it's really funny story:mad:

I am funny this way but when I pay 27k driveout price for an ordered 197 just the way I want it, I expect to make no excuses for flaws, inaccuracies or bugs.

After all, a new MC will be held to a higher standard.....

It's a lonnggg frustrating story with many parts which are nothing more than funny now, but my local dealer stood by me and put me in a Tournament Team boat for the spring and part of the summer as he ordered a completely new boat for me.

All of that was before the nightmarish host of trailer problems. However frustrating for all parties, my dealer came through for me on that issue as well.

bottom line, you need a good dealer.
