Is anyone going to Vancouver boat show this year? Hopefully there will be more vendors geared towards water skiing this year than in previous years. We need someone like Wiley's or Adrenaline to come up and have a killer booth (hint hint). Looks like we will have a couple of Mastercraft dealers there. Oh boy I can't wait:D

I was really looking forward to going, but with the collapse (http://www.cbc.ca/sports/story/2007/01/05/bc-dome.html) of the doomed roof at the stadium, I was wondering if the Vancouver boat show would still happen. :(

But according to BC Place Jan. 12 press release (http://www.bcplacestadium.com/newsreleases/jan052007.html), "...ready for re-inflation next week and ready in time for their next event, the 2007 Landscaping Expo, scheduled for January 23, 2007." Looks like the Vancouver Boat Show may happen after all. :) There are some pictures from inside the doom called "media photos" at the top of the press release page.

As far as I know it is still a go ahead. Unless the Coq is closed I will be there. Hope there are some deals to be had this year.

According to a BC Place news release, "At approximately 11:15AM today [Jan 19], the roof inflation team at BC Place successfully raised the roof.

“Overall we are pleased with the re-inflation process,” said Howard Crosley, General Manager at BC Place. “At this point the roof looks to be in good condition and we are proceeding with a full inspection.”

The inspection will be carried out by engineers from Cochrane Engineering, Geiger Engineers and roof manufacturer Birdair, who are all on site.

“We are confident the engineers will confirm that BC Place is ready to open its doors for the 2007 Landscaping Expo and Contractors Show,” said Crosley. “Once this happens we will be open for regular business, which is critical as we have back-to-back events booked for the next four months that are worth millions of dollars to the economy of Vancouver and British Columbia.”

I`ll be there, the roof is up and all dried out. there is also going to be indoor wakeboard show, with boarders being towed by a cable system.

We thought about renting a house boat this year also but our son is just to young (he wil be 2 1/2) in aug when we would do it. I think that I will have to wait until he 6 or so to feel safe about going on a houseboat.

i don't know if I am specifically looking for anything this year, I went looking for a wakeboard last year and never found a good deal, ended up getting a really good deal (50% off) on one here in Kelowna.

Who knows though what you will come across though

I personally think you are wise on holding off on the houseboat holiday for a while. I know of one family that suffered the tragic death of an infant on a houseboat holiday. In respect to the family, I will not repeat the details here. But if you do go, please make sure all of the windows and doors are secure and childproof. If you want to know more - just send me a PM.

My daughter is seven now and my son is age three - while in my care, neither are allowed on the dock, in the boat, or in the water at the lake without a lifejacket on.
