Give this guy a call, his name is Ken. He has the best stereo system that I've ever heard in his boat!

wetsounds and nvs are definitely loud and clear but unless you have some serious low end or mid power coming out of the rest of the boat they sound way to "tinty" or "crisp" in my opinion. I stuck with my Fusions with the higher end Diamonds when I upgraded all the other components after selling the 04 for the 06 X2. Gives great "full" Range sound when riding at 70-85.

Wetsounds are very good
A good friend has them; he has (1) Pro485 and (2) pro80
With a Kicker ZX 850.4 amp, to push the 3
His head unit is an Alpine 9857
He gave me a pull over the holydays, I had to have him turn it down it was so loud
When I was ridding

A good friend had a Pair of NVS on the tower of his XStar and you could hear them well past 80ft. The only issue was the they didn't give the full range of sound like has been said. His boat sounded good from the platform to about 70 ft but beyond that you lost all the mid and low end coming from the boat speakers. They are a great speaker to project sound to the rider though.

Lots of choices out there. Determine your goals and intended purpose and you can narrow it down a bit. If you want to hear the music clearly while boarding at 75-80ft stick with the pro audio gear (NVS, Wetsound, etc.). If you want clear music for in/around the boat at mid/low levels stick with the car audio based systems (Fusion, MC, etc.). Just make sure which ever direction you go that you get an amp that will comfortably drive your tower speakers.

I put a pair of Skylon Rubicon 450's on last summer. They'll make your ears bleed in the backseat...
