By what reference point are you lining this up? Why are you glassing the plates to the boat?
The backing plates are generic, not model specific...welcome to my world.

By the way are you measuring from the windsheild for all this? If so...dont. It is the only piece on your boat that is not jigged into place and is placed soley by hand and eye.

SDAhockey21

nope from the bummers and from the tip of the bow just liek the directions say

Looks like materials you could buy at any home center, hardware store or local steel distributer (dist might have scrap that size). I'd go get the metal and make your own.....probably cost you $20 tops....

Flop the plates over and drill new holes! I thought that the plates were curved, but if they are just flat stock, redrill the holes and wait to hear from Wayne in a few days... Over and Out! :D

SDAhockey21
12-28-2006, 01:20 PM

Good, just make sure it looks okay when you look at the windsheild...i.e. make sure it isn't trapped against the windsheild somewhere (rubbing) or make your boat look crooked. Lastly remember that you'll need to have the cover modified to go around the tower as well so the clearnace at the windsheild again becomes important. Also make sure the spool is where you want it...i.e. somewhere over your near your pylon...measure twice cut once.

They go inside the hull, right?

Do they need to be curved??? They're generic plates....does the curve even match what you need?

MYMC
12-28-2006, 01:26 PM
no no drill press
Machine shop nearby? Center the one that will line up and mark the hole where the next bolt needs to be. If you have no way to secure the piece and enlarge the hole then take it to a local job shop and have them open it for you. Use a large stainless flat washer and nylock to secure the fastner and move on...next.

SDAhockey21
12-28-2006, 01:27 PM
the curve matches the holes don't so i think im just goign to drill new holes

do the screws in the tower angle in or out at all. That could explain the difference

Good god just drill a couple of holes and be done with it. That plate looks so thin it will just contour to the shape of the hull when it is tightened up.

I would make new plates weld the nuts on to the plates, so when you need to tighten
Down your tower, you do not need to hold them from the inside!!!

lol............. ahh the good times.... ya know, when mc trailers had a couple of inches between the spare and the hull!

Hey, I like the garage teaser pic but whatabout the restofit?

you are lucky with the attic ladder, mine would land IN the boat! I flipped it around last week... easy job as some on here gave me great ideas but the dang boat is still in the way of the ladder... working that out with the builder this week asamatteroffact.

On my 1996, I can fit my Porter Cable Random Orbital between the hull and tire on my new boat I am going to have to take the spare off to wax that area....

No, I doubt I will get the bevelled bunks... unless I do it myself!! The boat is a brand new 2005, so it looks like I will need to play the sqeaking wheel card like you did!!

Looks like I'm going to order a ND tower in the next couple of weeks (before the 15% off sale ends). Hopefully they'll get my order right. I've heard of others as well complaining about wrong/missing parts with ND, but the tower itself looks SWEET!
