US snowstorm causes "millions" in damage to Lake of the Ozarks (http://www.ibinews.com/ibinews/newsdesk/20061107153906ibinews.html)

Wedel said only 50 of the 221 slips at his yacht club remained unaffected by the storm. He estimates the damage to his docks to be at least US$5.6 million, without including boat damage. "I have one $600,000 boat that is in 52 feet of water right now," Wedel told the paper. "After the roof collapsed on it and it was pushed down below the intake openings, we could see it slowly taking on water and going down, but we were helpless. There wasn't a thing we could do."

Holy crap...that's a lot of damage. I used to spend every weekend down there when I lived in St. Louis...I'm sure there are a lot of personal docks that have just absolutely collapsed as their structural integrity is nowhere close to the large marina docks.

14" of snow + concrete surfaced docks + galvanized steel = I hope my insurance policy is paid up.

And note...The roofs collapsed on a few of the Marinas that have not been set on fire in the last few months.

Saw my cousin today and found out that she is handling the claims for one of the marinas on the lake. She doesnt even have a clue what the total claim is going to be but she said that it is all going to be on the marina's insurance.
